So i have been taking in everything i learned from here so far and here is my idea, tell me is this is stupid:

audiophile 2496
behringer eurorack ub1002 mixer
studio project b1
shure sm57

again this is just to record vocals and acoustic guitar(through a mic) onto the n-track program. I want to record two seperate tracks at once, i can do it mono through that mixer right? If so can I also record one track for vocals and through the mixer have two mics on the guitar and make that the second track?
thanks for the help and if there is a better way to do what i want within the price range of what i was planning on spending let me know.

what about that tascam us 122, is it waste of money? cause with that i could record two track right? and i wouldnt need a mixxer and soundcard but is the usb way bad?

When folks say that a Shure SM-57 is a great mic for guitars, they're talking about electric guitars -- it's used close-miking the speaker from an amp.

If you want to record acoustic guitar, you'll have better results with another condenser mic. Maybe get two B1s?

The USB way is not bad, it's just more limiting than a PCI interface -- for example, you might not be able to record 2 tracks simultaneously at full sampling rate and bit depth. You also need to make sure that you get one that has mic preamps, and you need phantom power for the Studio Project B1.

I'll go with two sp b1's thanks for your help, so here is the update:

audiophile 2496
behringer eurorack ub1002 mixer
2 studio project b1

Will this work better with what i want to do, I am not going with the usb ill get the soundcard and mixer.how does this look?
