Your options are:
-do it yourself
-do it with your own gear
-achieve studio quality
pick any two.....
Trust me you won't learn how to master by asking questions in these internet forums, even if everybody who is an expert spent all day typing out what they know and posting it on your threads. The guys above are right....your best use of time is learning how to get the best sounding raw tracks you can get, and learning how to get the best sounding raw mix you can get. Watch some of the tubes, read some of the books and articles.
If you wanna find out how honest you're being with yourself about your ability to master at home, buy Ozone. It's cheap tuition. If you use Ozone more and more and come away from it thinking you know more and more about mastering, then you are not being honest. If you are honest you will come away from it thinking you will never know enough to do your own mastering.
At that point, you will either decide to settle for what you can do at home with Ozone and several weeks of trial and error........or you will start saving your money to pay a pro to do your mastering for you.
