my tracks are in stereo but theyre lifeless...
I do have stuff like compressors, limiters, eqs, parametric eqs since i use fl studio.
How exactly do i master the tracks to studio quality? Is it something to do with eq, reverb...blah...i dont know.
Some of the demos which came with software sound rich and studio quality. I think im missing something!

I really don't want to sound flippant with my answer, kratos, but probably the main thing you're missing is a few years of practice. It's kinda like picking up a guitar for the first time and wondering why you can't play like Stevie Ray Vaughn ;).

In the meantime, maybe you might want to post one of your efforts in the MP3 Clinic forum here and have a few people give you some honest critique on what you have so far and ways that maybe it can be improved, and that should help get you rolling down the right path. :)

What SSG said. ;)

Most of what makes a good master is a good mix.
Most of what makes a good mix comes from good tracking.

Part of getting a good mix is a good monitor setup which includes the room.

Post your goodz, get some feedback and go back to your mix and possibly to the tracking stage.

luck man. ;)

stick your tracks in the MP3 clinic...you'll get good feedback and pointers...

i finish off what tracks ive done back in my daw with a bounced wave file...from then its generally nothing more than a compresser and limiter to bring the volume up and sometimes an EQ if something sticks out...if I think it needs anything else I generally go back to the mix and fix it there

One thing Ive found that helps though is getting rid of unwanted frequencies...other than the bass and kick I generally cut out anything under 100Hz and then watch for mudiness in the mids...this is very general so go by your own ears of course

also I try to EQ by assigning midi control to my PCRs buttons and not looking at the plugins GUI....that way I try to hear the difference rather than shit out of making a big adjustment

hope this helps a little

I have written a guide with some tricks. You can download it for free and let me know if that helped. thanks

Here's a mastering trick - set up excellent quality monitoring in an acoustically well-treated room. This tip is free for a limited time if you send me your name, address, date of birth, mother's maiden name, and credit card number.

dead on

+1

exactly

spend a lot of time learning
ear training and getting good tracks
how to mix
then finally how to master

It's been out a long time...on most DAWs.

"Compress and normalize for maximum level"

:D

Holy crap!!! IT WORKED!!!

Well, it aided in the ability to spend a few years learning to listen critically, which wasn't really possible before... The rest is history - Tomorrow's a mystery.
