New to the forums...and an extreme NEWBIE at home recording.:)
Well, I've been reading some stuff now, and I'm wondering if I messed up by buying the Audigy2. I bought it mostly because of the ability to record in 24/96, and the supposed quality of the Crystal 24/196 DACs it uses. It supports ASIO2, and I have the breakout box with all the I/Os as well.
A well written review that pushed me in this direction is over here:

So far, it seems to work fine, after I upgraded to the drivers on the web, but can anyone explain why people say "stay away from Creative"? I'm just curious...will the quality of my recordings be that much inferior to other cards? Should I try to sell this card and get something else more "pro"?
Thanks for the insight, I'm learning here.

It will work just fine and you may be quite satisfied with it.
But you could have gotten an audiophile 24/96 for the same amount of money that has much better converters and designed with recording in mind.
The creative stuff is designed more for gamers and plain ol multimedia stuff.

Ok, I see. It's just that this card isn't a "music ONLY" card. Guess I'll just keep it for a while, especially while I'm learning the ins and outs of everything...can always upgrade later, I suppose.
Thanks for clearing that up,
Jed

Your Audigy will be fine until you need to upgrade. The reason people say to stay away from Creative, is because they are designed to be more of an all around computer, gaming, etc soundcard. Also, Creative does not have a good reputation for fixing driver problems.
