poor eddie...
i'm JUMP-in' in on this thread--oops, bad pun, huh?
from what i know, eddie's problems in the 80's was crack, and then he went to rehab, then got deep in booze when him and valerie divorced. after that, he got mouth cancer, and fell even deeper... i remember reading posts a couple of years ago at the namm convention in anaheim, and eddie was supposed to show--he did, but was so wasted that he just hid away, got yelled at by disappointed fans, and split.
then he starts talking about how he's 'life cleaning' before the last tour started... and then he takes wolfie along for the ride (imagine his diary, huh?)...
my theory: eddie's so gone now, that if his mgrs. took away his dope/booze/whatever, he's end up blowing the whole tour... so, they're letting him do whatever so that the tour can finish up. and all the while, everybody's gotta put up with him, because let's face it, people aren't going to see sammy. or m.a. or alex... they're there to see eddie. but all i've seen is poor reviews, and my hope fades for eddie, too.
i love eddie, love his playing, but his personal life needs to get back on track before he can ever achieve what he did in the late 70's/80's.
