Lots of talent around these parts.

Great recording, however the Bass is really too much on my headphones or Monitors ( Tannoys), but I will assume I need new stuff. However, I download a fair amount of MP3's, and the bass on this tune really was different on my humble equipment than other tunes I have downloaded. Maybe it is because I am a classical geek. Other than that, Wow! Great stuff.

Wow, excellent tune, great feel. I am not a huge fan of this style, but this sounds great. Is this recorded proffesionally or in a home studio?..

I've been so worried about how much bass I'm getting on my tracks. You've delivered me from all fears on that score. :D

I have a suspicion - I think you don't really want comments on this song. I think you just want to show off what a very beautiful, talented and earthy woman you get to work with. :)

How'd you get that grainy sound on the background vocals on the left side?

Brilliant vocals. All of 'em. Brilliant.

LOL Yup dobro. you're right. I can honestly say she's the most talented and accomplished singer I've ever worked with, and that's saying something! With over 500 songs ready - I don't think she's got a lot to worry about. (and she's also the most beautiful, and the nicest and and and :))

The vocals, well see, thats another thing. Reverb - yes. EQ - no. She makes her voice sound like that, very simple. She listens, and fills in things in her backing tracks, with different voices.
I'm planning to do a track with her singing the instrumentation, perhaps just use drums, that's all.

I know, crazy isn't it? She threw away the ones she didn't like :)
She's got them all meticulously indexed, each one accompanied by a number for an, also indexed of cause, minitape giving the basics of melody, chorus and verse. She doesn't really need that, because if you point randomly at one of the songs, she'll look up the words, thinks for 10 seconds, and will sing it for you.
She wrote the score and 6 songs for a movie soundtrack, the first time she ever did anything like that, in 4 days. Not normal songs, oh no. There is a song for the movie, and then 1 song for each of the 5 main characters in the movie, songs that fit the characters like gloves.
Altogether, its really quite frightening in a funny kinda way.
I think its also the reason she isn't a huge star already. In the past some really well known people heard her (she's apparently one of Prince's favorite singers - he used to invite her to come and sing in his club in Minniap all the time) and wanted to work with her. Inevitably when it came to starting recordings, guys got too intimidated and inevitably tried to completely remove her from arrangement and production involvement - upon which she felt it not to be worth it anymore, and walked (or they were interested in getting her into bed, same result).
I love working with her, we can work without even talking, if we do talk its to say the same thing, like musical twins, REALLY strange and wonderful.
Needless to say, Uru is the reason for, and inspiration behind, the building of our own studio. I think we've got some work to do!

Excellent! I don't think anyone could say anything bad about that song. I wish i had that kind of vocal command.

The only thing you're missing is...

some funky little Kabudokan guitar stylings in the background, stinging little puncuation marks in there. ;)

Nice work.

'S funny, that - I was just thinking a parallel thought - how a touch of male vocal of the sort I do would sound just *so* right in there...

sjoko - she makes her voice sound like that - that's really heartening. I'm encouraged.
