Acoustic sounds good............................is that a ukelele? Almost sound like bongos in places........voice sounds good, maybe a wee bit too much bottom on it, maybe not; can't relly decide.....lead acoustic needs to come up..........bass is kinda 'tubby' sounding but then, upright basses often are.........
Overall, a nice mix and song, I'm just nitpicking....whoah! 3 endings ...:D

cool tune dtb.. I like the upright bass, and I wanted it to be louder.. vocals are cool but,

if I could make a suggestion about the vocals.. When your recording them, lower your voice in your headphones and raise the music so you will have to sing a little louder.. it sounds like your singing at a very low volume, and if you had to push it a little louder, it would sound a bit stronger as opposed to sounding like your singing while sitting on the couch.. I hope this makes some sense..

cool song, and good lyrics man..

Nice arrangement dtb !

Acoustic sounds rich and full. The leads and muted rythm hold together nicely and the bass is great. Maybe a tad more volume on the bass would be nice but I am a self proclaimed bass head. I love the big bottom end sound.

Vocals are crisp and full.
A clean tune!
Great job!
Joel

Lt., yes, it's a Martin HD28 uke, he he he he he, or maybe the mando, not sure, thanks Bob, I always look forward to your commenbts. Still working on the new mic, as to placement and stuff. Having lots'a fun.

B., damn , man, now I gotta get off the sofa. Shit. You guys are tough. Cooled the bass a little cause I seem to over do it sometimes. Will take your suggestions on vocals very serious. Still working with playing AND singing and the new mic. Thanks, another dude that I really look forward to their comments.

Joel, want to move in with me and the wife. Thanks. You seem to hear what I hear, in my music. New mic. I've been working on arrangement. My stuff is very simple and kinda quiet, so I seem to usually try and have some kinda little arrangement worked out to make up for the lack of talent. he he he he

thanks again for the listen fellows, I really enjoy you folk's comments.

Bravo!

Nice tune dtb, acoustic sounded real good, I think B.Sabbath had a good idea about the vocal...it was really good though. I liked it!

thanks David, Yeah, if you hang around here long enough, the Masters will speak, and most of the time, it's good suggestions. That's the best way to learn a little about this shit. It's kinda a down feeling song, so I was trying for a down feeling vocal. Low and close mic'ed. Thanks again for the listen.

That's a great tune DTB. Shades of Lightfoot.

Only suggestions I have are bring the vox's down a bit(4dB or so, or bring everything else up), and pan the uke further to the right, like 3:00 and a bit of verb on it.

Very nice tune.

i listened to 'old man'..........i was expecting neil young's old man......didn't recognize it, but then i did......to my surprise it's "daddy went walkin" not "old man".......i liked it

as for "life seems surreal"...........nice acoustic intro, good tone on the guit.........i really like the instrumentation........mandolins are great..........i like the voice too...........nice song, nice job

Emeric, thanks friend, for the listen, and the comments. It seems to be vocal hot. I agree. And I'm sorry if I led anyone on about the "uke". It's the mandolin, I'm sure, that you hear. Only 3 tracks. Guitar and vocals on 1, mandolin on 2, and bass sound on 3. I also did something I've never done in all my years of playing. I used a heavy pick. I've always used a med. light pick. I believe this is where the "uke" and "bongos" sounds or tones are coming from. Thanks again.

chris, nuff said, thanks man, for listening.

powderfinger, man, when David (my pal) said he had a new tune to learn, he called it "old man" and it stuck. Anyway, most of the covers we end up with get "Spencer Hilled". That's what we call it. Learning a cover and adapting it to our style, or should I say our limitations. he he he he. Thanks for the comments on the new tune. You didn't hear no "uke" did you?

Thanks again for the listen,

Shit Dan, this one snuck up on me. You got a fantastic sound out of the Marty (read "no woofy sound"). This sounds REALLY fuckin good. Definately push the bass up a bit. The mandolin sounds pretty sweet too. I have to say this is the best thing I've heard from you IMHO. Very, very, very cool.

sneaky. thanks Track. I think the new mic is really good for the Martin, and the mando. I had the mic (v67) about eye level in a sitting position, and played the Martin while I sang. It really did help get the "woof" down. It kinda put the guitar under the mic a little. And the bass sound. Damn it, sometimes it's too loud and sometimes not loud enough. It sounds pretty good on my reg. system. Not to loud, but loud enough. Now let's work on getting yo guitar to Conn.

Thanks again for the comments. I also think this tune and the last one are my best recordings to date.

Very, very nice... The uke and your singing voice make this song.

Me thinks I have found a new home. :D

Nice warm guitar sound. Mandolin is a nice touch. Maybe bring it up just a bit? The guit overpowers it a little bit. The last few notes of those Mandolin runs are tough to hear.

Very upfront vocals, maybe they're up a little high in the mix. Everything is very cleanly recorded.

I'm not sure I'd recommend it, but I wonder what the vocals would sound like with just a hint of plate reverb. You certainly wouldn't want much on a song like this. But I wonder if a little ambience would warm the vox up a bit. Just something to try.

Trip...

Someone will be coming by to collect your dues. :D

I'd be happy to toss some money in the pot... Where do I sent it?

BTW: How far are you from Red Stick

rustyfingers, Dennis, welcome aboard my friend. Thanks for the listen and comments.

good one Lt., but don't scare away the newbies. Let'em get comfy before you make'em pay.

3M, I wanted to do something with the vocals, such as some verbage, but I played the guitar with'em, and didn't want it on that. Working with a new mic here, if you didn't catch that in the thread, so placement is a learning experience. And the mic has really cleaned up my recordings. And yes, i'm sure I'll be trying different things as I get into this mic a little. Having a lot of fun. Thanks for the listen and comments.

Folky, like olde-tymey folky... from the reniassance (sp?)... you have that storyteller-songwriter's voice... very intimate mix... sounds like the vox were tracked about 2in from the mic... guits are well played...

Another very pleasant track :)

thanks partypants, for the listen and the comments. Intimate was right on. It's a trend I'm going thru. New mic, and just luv the new sounds. Thanks again.
