a quick 1:25 minute ditty...
trying out the new 'drums from hell',
and the palmer pdi-09 and
weber attenuator with a
60 watt vintage boogie head

this is just a faders-up mix, just to play with the new drum package and a low-volume full-on amp setup...
critiques are welcome, as i'll be dialing in this one a bit more, to figure out how to setup templates for future work...
plus, i gotta lot of kit choices to make, and i'm trying to learn how to dial in the low end on the kick and snare..

think i could get away with tacking an acoustic section onto the beginning...

basically, doing the main rhythm riff, maybe a little scat-type vox thing going on, and THEN break into this part?

that way, i could keep the instrumental part, elongate the song, and sneak a vocal in there.....

the original version is still up, if you want to compare..

changes?
went for the ludwig 24" kick....
the larger sonor snare....
changed all the cymbals, and took almost all of the room and compression tracks out of the mix...
added a custom reverb to the top snare mic only...
and then tweaked all drums with custom eq patches on the multi outs...
no compression at all...... tho my next session of tweakage, will probably result in breaking out the drums from the cymbals, and trying liberal amounts of multiband comp on the drums, and light one band comp on the cymbals....

bass and guitars all got eq tweaks, and level changes.
rhythm guitar was copied, and then hard panned right and left, with the left channel being put in opposite phase.
all guitar effects were printed on input from the pedalboard and amp effects loop, nothing added on mixdown.

Dude, this is cool. Your playing has changed a lot. If I recall, you didn't use to solo that much in your songs. But cool solos. Cool drums. What are you trying? How much is it? Are those mic'd gits?

i've been called a wanker before..... probably from all the solos!!

i'll tell you, adding in the weber mass lite, and the palmer PDI-09, has really allowed me to dial in my guitar tone, for recording without mics.
plus, i can mic if i want, and add it in as well, tho there's none of that on this.
this was pure direct, including the bass thru the boogie, so it's nice to know that if you HAD to do quiet recording, it can be done, and the sound is more organic than any of the modelers i've tried....

in the case of THIS recording, i cranked the studio monitors up, turned off the guitar track monitoring, and simply played along with the rhythm tracks with an authentic cab sound to drive my vibe, no latency, works great!

drums are all toontracks drums from hell.
bass is a Carvin LB70 straight into the boogie...

What are you trying? How much is it?

I guess I was thinking of your soundclick page with all the songs. I was remembering that you had quite a bit of songs that I really liked. So I guess I had not remembered the solos much. My Bad.

But I do remember having that discussion about the Palmer PDI. That bass looks real nice. I've been thinking about buying a bass. The only thing is that I'd had to buy a amp with it too to get the bass tone that I can route to my computer for recording. So that's an expense. Or maybe a DI recorder for bass.

Look at that guitar. Shiny! The frets look so clean. Plus the strings are shiny.
