I love Tool, and as you can see by earlier posts, was very pleased with this album. Having said that......
Its kinda boring now :(

i've personally been a huge tool fan for quite a while now...i have the albums, shirts, ticket stubs, and even a tattoo as proof

but seriously, 10,000 days is somewhat of a letdown for me. it's not that it's terrible, or that they sold out, or any crap like that, it just seems to missing that certain intangible element that made their previous work so great. i feel as though they didn't make much progress on this album musically - many of the guitar, bass, and even drum parts sound like they're taken directly out of previous songs/albums.

maybe i'm trying to hold them to too high of standard, but the simple fact is that all of their previous material left me floored when i 1st heard it, and 10,000 days just didn't.

That new album might be better than 80% of the music coming out of any genre these days, but it is by no means original.

Are they ripping someone off? Are they trying to sound like someone else because their label thinks it'll sell? Tool has been doing their own thing for quite some time and thousands of bands have fed off them. I myself am pretty jaded and I'll openly admit, they made a good album.

I think the new album is really good. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me (much like lateralus). I like it more than aenema, but I don't think it tops Lateralus... that CD was amazing.
