Hey guys,

I need some help on what equipment i would need to record some analogue drums at home. I'm up for hearing what your guys set ups are and what equipment you use too, every bit of information will be so helpful

I've been looking at different tascam recorders and was looking for some feedback on the different models and which would be best for recording drums or any alternative recorders. I would probably only be recording with 1 or 2 over heads.

Also what microphones would be good, i want a pretty compressed, lo-fi sound.
Hope someone can help.

Cheers

You could always try starting out with a cassette 4 track if the lo-fi sound is what you want. The Tascam 244,246 and 424mkii are pretty popular around here. And you can get some surprisingly good sounds from them.As for mics.....I have used a single sm-58 as an overhead and an akg d112 in the bass drum with a 4 track and the results were pretty decent.Just experiment with where the mic sounds best.
