new to recording

I am new to recording, so I have alot of questions. I am currently using cakewalk home studio 2004 and I formerly used pro-audio 9. I am considering upgrading. What would the benefits if i upgrade from the home studio to Sonar, are there alot of benefits?

The question I would ask you is, "Is this the best use of your money?" If you aren't currently limited by the feature set of HS2004 maybe a nice new shiny sound card would be a better bet... Or a nice large diaphragm condenser microphone...... Or a MIDI keyboard or a controller.... Or some new pickups for ya guitar..... Or a nice pre-amp..... Or some nice studio monitors....
