I would like to set up a little recording typ studio in my basement. I just recently decided to start a career with my vocal ability, hopefully doing well. I want to record and broadcast myself out there BUT I dont want to do it on a cheap walmart computer mic.

Keep in mind that I have NO previous background in studio work or recording so I need alot of help. This is what I want, need:

Two mics: My fiance may perform with me, duets and such
I dont have a band but would like the ability to plug in guitars and other instruments if needed.
I am clueless to all this, I am 21 and just now decided to pursue a career in this. I would also like all of this to plug into my 27" imac i7 to record. What programs would I then need to record the pieces onto my computer?

A step-by-step would be cool if anyone has an extensive background in this stuff. I may record some video too but I dont know if I want to spend the money on an expensive camera you know?

I have two kids and want to do something I love and have the God-given knack for. The kids are very young so I want to start now and attempt to make a career out of this asap! Thanks so much guys!

Go read all the other posts in this section, and go a few pages in, that answer your query.

At the simplest level it's sound source - microphone - interface - PC - DAW software...

For specific recommendations, more information about style of music, gear you already own and play ( instruments and amps ) and a bit more on what and how you'd like to record would be good.

There's a mine of information out there, already documented for you in the various posts that ask the exact same question daily.

Every single day! Every day! Day in and day out! 24/7! Till eternity!

Thanks Mike. I almost lost it there.
