New to making beats... VOX?

My question is why are vocals name vox? I'm new to making beats and I've came across alot of:

GirlSingingVox.wav Baby_CryinVox.wav hustle234vox.wav

I tried searching the web but didn't get much but the company VOX Amplifiers and such. Anyone got an answer for me?

it's just an abbreviation of "Vocals"

No, vox is the Latin root of "voice" and "vocal," as in vox populi.

Vocals Vocs it only makes more sense in the english language then Vox
