New to forum & a question on AKG's

Hello,

I've just registered to become a part of this forum, but have been coming here for a while. It seems that quite a few people in here are very knowledgable, and helpful, so I just thought I would come on in and ask a few things.

I'm interested in the AKG c408 drum mics, I was woundering if anyone here has had any experience with them, or any similar mics of near quality. If they are crap...please let me know before I dive in!!

I used 'em once at a music store where I worked. The ones we got were used and they were terrible. Sonically they were as good as any, but I guess the previous owner beat the crap out of them because they were intermittent and occasionally they would stop working altogether. We wound up chucking them.

I've heard good stuff about them from others who have had them, so the best bet would be to try to find a set of them, give 'em a try then decide whether or not you want to keep them. A lot of online shops have a satisfaction guarantee on new gear anyway...
