What is the difference between HD CORE CARD and ACCEL CARD?
BASICALLY, Do I need both or just one and which one?
I'm planning to setup an entry level Digidesign system using PRE audio interface.
Lastly, is HD different from HD 1?

Firstly, the PRE is NOT an interface. It is a set of remote controllable preamps.

You will need at least one of the following interfaces: 96 i/o, 96i i/o, 192 i/o or 192 digital i/o.

Every Pro Tools HD system needs one, and only one core card.

You can then increase the DSP capacity, and also the number of interfaces by adding an accel card.

Each card can support a maximum of two interfaces.

Finally an HD1 system comprises only a core card. An HD2 system would be a core card + 1 Accel card. An HD3 system would be a core card + 2 accel cards, and so on up to HD7

I hope this helps.

thnx pal,

that helps a lot. I still need more info about this system. I just knew today that PRE is not an audio interface from an ebay seller.

Im looking between 96 and 96i. If 96i has line level inputs, what kind of input does 96 have?

Also, if I have a mic to mic preamp setup and guitar to DI box setup, does the output from both of those will work to either 96 and 96i?

Lastly, IF the inputs from 96 are NOT line level like the 96i, how will you connect a keyboard output which is a line level?

All the inputs/outputs are line level on both interfaces.

There are also a couple of digital ins/outs on the 96.

Check out the interfaces on the digidesign site: http://www.digidesign.com

Yes both will work with your DI box, Keyboard and Pre-amps.
