Hey guys. I've been meaning to serious about recording for awhile. I'm a guitarist and want to start recording my own music. I intend to record on my PC. I have a modest set up: Dell P4, MAudio Audiophile 2496, Behringer UB802 mixer, N-Track.

I know my mixer isn't great but it works well. What I need now are a pair of decent monitors. I'm looking at MAudio BX5a and KRK RP-5 pairs. Then I'll upgrade my mixer to something like a $300 Soundcraft or thereabouts. My mic is an old (15-20 years) Audio Tecnicha ATM63. I'm going to get myself a Shure SM57.

Anyway, I know I have alot to learn but I need to start with getting a good mic'ed tone from my amps. I have a Peavey JSX head, Mesa Boogie Road King II head, Mesa 2x12 Rectifier cab and a home-made 2x12 cab.

I'll be doing alot of searching on this site.

Check out my site: www.dafguitars.com for my home-built projects.

Thanks.

Dave

Screw recording... you're giving Norm Abrams a run for his money. Amazing projects there.

LOL! Norm's the man. I love when he fires a brad into something or clamps some boards up and says: "That's not goin' anywhe'"

Good stuff.

It's when he uses a dove tail with glue, screws, and brads that cracks me up. Dude should be building battle ships.
