just in case. never hurts to make a note.
NOTE: it is NOT simul-sync machine.

Wow  Great find. Amazing they are still finding new ones. It's up to almost. $800! I wonder what else is out there. Still in the box.

That's cool. Though something that old and never opened or used makes me wonder how badly the components have atrophied inside.

I bought my GX-747 in a box and it needed some work. :)

Beautiful recorder but lemme be the cynic here and say I'd be very worried about turning on a 30 year old, never used, unit in the first place and it'll most likely arrive damaged, to some extent, if the thing is to be shipped, no matter the factory box.

That's because "turning on" is the first thing that comes to your mind, which is not necessarily so in the the mind of people with different "philosophy".
********
Some quotes taken from here and here
1. "Ancient Egyptians believed that their spirit would go to another world after they died. It would return to the body at night. The spirit would have to be able to reconize the body to return to it or it would die. This is why the Egyptians preserved the body as life like as possible. Mummification would guarantee eternal life for the spirit."
2. "For centuries mummification was a wonderful and great privilege enjoyed by the pharaohs of Ancient Egypt."
3."From about 2500 B.C. many more humans were able to hope for immortality by having themselves embalmed"
4. "Mummification remained an expensive business, well beyond most Egyptians."
********
Some thoughts on the fly:
1. For some people acquired objects are not to be used by a mortal human but are to provide accommodation for immortal spirits (from another world), and thus, to spiritually enrich the residence and ultimately - the resident's life.
2. Spirituality via possession is an "expensive busines".
:D

btw, Daniel,
"self-help" - ...heh heh heh , funny :D

Any info to share?

I mean about an analog tape deck?:):)

The one he has pictured is lit up. I wonder if that's the other one he kept for himself.

Nop.
Here is why:
1. I have no clue which analog tape deck you are asking about.
2. I have no clue what info you are asking for about an analog tape deck you are not naming.
3. I don't share. I do give away though.

hah, Steve. Unless I've misunderstood, he said he is selling the one in the box, and the one that is pictured was another one "NIB" that he keeps.
Actually I wonder where on earth have he found TWO! of those. HERE??? :D

Well, I though it was a very colorful Dr. Zee reply about how the other half might live, those with an interest in purely collecting such merchandise, of which the analogue deck in question might surely find its way behind a glass cabinet or be mummified for all we know!:D:D ;);)

WOW , holly reel! What a valley! :D
That man does seem to be an ordinary collector. Rare breed, sort of speak. :)

Stale air from the past

Dr. Zee's comment reminds me of a few yrs ago. In reference to one of my favorte punk rock bands: "The Dickies" One of the many records in my collection was an (at the time) unopened original copy of their Black Sabbath cover "Paranoid" on White wax from 1978. I saw "The Dickies" perform in Tampa a few yrs ago, I brought the record to the show, met the singer "Leonard" and Guitarist "Stan", They opened the record , we all sniffed the air inside it's plastic record sleeve and they signed it (24 odd something yrs later) with dedication to me. Ha, I now have it framed, hanging in my small home studio!!!

in the post #15 I've missed "not" :o,
so here it is: - "NOT".
Insert it where it fits :)

analog aaron, some cool story there! -
I have few rounds of vinyl on my "studio" walls too, some junky junk records, for decoration only, one of them is right here, titled: "The Official Music of The XXIIIrd Olympiad Los Angeles 1984", red lable, makes great decor :p heh heh

Make no mistake - the GX-625 is a kick-ass machine, which is why my silver one is my one true workhorse while the others just sit on the shelves and look pretty.
................;)

Q: What are reel-to-reel tape recorders good for, to most people these days?

A: Props...............;)
