Have you tried using different channels for the input? Is it the same on different channels?

Something else you might try is moving the faders rapidly up and down about 30 or 40 times to clean them up a bit. Of course, without any signal on them.

I have a scratchy pot on my computer speakers and I have to do this about every other week to keep them clean. You might also run over to RatShack and get a can of Color TV Tuner Cleaner and see if that helps. it's about eight bucks a can, but it works really well at cleaning off oxidation on contact surfaces.

yeah i thought that was the problem too but it isnt the problem.. it is on all channles no matter what channel i put the instruments put or what channles i record them too.... it just seems there is no rooom for play.. but i am really beliving that it IS the headphones.. cause my hearing is like way sensitive since my eyes aint.. .. and with it going thorugh the headphones.. i get head aches fast too ..

I was in te living room trying this.... i can listen to music on my stereo (NOT loud but normal listening levelsout of the main stereo speakers ).. and i can enjoy it.. but when i put headphones on the stereo and listen to the stereo.. wiht the headphones.. it also sounds like a massinve musicians just trying to out play everyone.. kinda liek what i hear on the tascam.. but this is the STEREO i am listening to (FM STEREO and CDS!. hehehe They sond fine in my stereo speakers but in headphones they sound like everyone is just PLAYING LOUD!!

It ISNT the head phones either i have two pairs and they both the same .. so i REALLY THINK it IS ME! I cant seem to hear it as well with the headphones cause it is all comeing in BLAMMMMMM in one spot!.. i NEED to MIX on the stereo speakers.. thats MY ONLY BET!!

hey man sorry to keep hassling this post! :(

but i do apprciate your input!

It's no hassle, really.

I like trying to help folks out when I can with recording problems. Especially analog problems.

I wish I could solve this one for you, but I'm at a real loss.

hey man i DO appreciate you at least trying to help me...

i really think it is the headphones tho! my ears do tire fast when i listen to the headphones even after a short period of time.. i alwasy thought it was the tascam faders not givng me the headroom i need.. when actualy the headphones doesnt allow for head room!! granted you can hear alot of things wiht headphones you cant hear in stereo speakers which i DO notice that.. but as i say my ears are sensitve more then my eyes and then after listening to the headphoens even a short period of time they DO GET tired and I THINK THAT is whats the problem

i am goign to get some long rca cables to hook the tascam to the main stereo and if i can at least get a SOMEWHAT better mix.. (allowing for my limited mixing knowledge hehe) then i know it is my headphone monitoring.. but IF I CANT do ANY better with the main stereo speakers.. then it HAS to BE ME or ther tascam is limited but i DOUBT that cause i have heard people getting good mixes wiht the 488 MKii!.. so thats what i NNEED to do!

SO ANYHOW. thanx for all your help and at least trying .. i will just have to try that and see what happnes!.. thanx again man!

cheerz
