Hi people,

Just got my new soundcard (Presonus firebox) and connected it all, but im getting a really low signal through everything i put through it. Ive tried 2 different mics, my bass and a guitar all with different cables and so on...

Im running the firebox straight into cubase using OSX. I also tried routing it through my 1402 VLZ desk, but its exactly the same. It has pre amps, but i just cant figure out why the signal is so low. I have the channel gain up at about 80% the main level at about the same and the channel in Cubase is also up near the top. Any ideas anyone?

Appreciate any suggestions!

Just to add, if im playing anything back from iTunes, the volume is perfect.

Where is that? Theres no button that i can see on the actualy unit...? That would explain it if there is a pad button somewhere...

It says in the MANUAL!

In the firebox hardware control panel (on the CD) Input level boost: "clicking this button will boost the input level of each corresponding analog input on the Firebox by +12dB. use this feature for recording quiet instuments or devices with low output"

Hopes that helps :D

Man, dont i feel stupid now :P!! Its boosted it a little, however, its still quite low, im only reaching about 20% of the full level and theyre nearly on full... Strange... It will do for now though :) Can always just normalize it! Thanks for the help!!! :D

Did you turn the volume up in the mixer control panel for the firebox? or did you know that there is a software mixer also included?

Yeah the volume control on the firebox is at about 2 o'clock and the faders are all on maximum on the control panel which comes with the software. Might be just crappy leads? Dont know, will be buying some new ones anyway soon so hopefully that might make them a bit better.

Thanks again for the help
