I think there is too much bass in this song. Please let me know what you think of it. Thanks. The song really kicks in after 30sec.

The bass sounded just right to me. The distorted guitar however seemed to muddy things up a bit ......and the vocal sounds a little dry.....maybe some reverb?...or something to give it a more silky quality?

I am using a Rode Nt1 and a ART MP Pre, it seems that the mic is harsh no matter what I do. Im open to suggestions on how to soften this mic. Thanks for the input.

I don't think the vocal sounds harsh, just, as Mac2 said, maybe a little too dry for a song like this. You might try compressing it some more (along with de-essing). From a performance point of view, you might try backing off and singing fuller. I also agree about the guitar. I think it needs more volume and much less distortion.

Well...if the NT1 is similar to the NTK that we (Buck62 and I) use nowadays.....we learned from Harvey Gerst to place the mic at approximately eye or forehead level and angle it downwards...it helps eliminate the pops on consonants and also can help de-ess the sss's....soften that kinda stuff basically....might not even need a pop screen. Anyway, if you haven't tried experimenting with the mic's positioning....try it and see if it helps.

Thanks I'll try that, I dont have a mic stand, and it would be the biggest laugh for everyone to see how I have my mic set up!
