"6am"

i know i'm not a very good singer - and that the vocals have to be redone, but i'm not set on all the lyrics yet so i'm waiting to redo them, i just wanted to hear how it sounded with vocals.

anyway, let me know what you think.

Braden,
1) The link is nicer if you can just click on it and go to your song, or get it ot play automatically. As a favor I found the link you need. Edit your first post and put this link in it and you should get many more plays....

2) The piano and guitar are out of sync a couple of times. I think it's on the suspended chord but I'm no guru. It's noticeable when they seem to play the same chord but a milisecond out of sync.

3) The vocals are really nice with the low and high part. Is that a girl and guy singing? There's some pitchiness at the beginning (lower voice) but it seems to smooth out nicely as it progresses.

4) This is a cool mellow tune and just flows nicely from end to end. I love the theme of having another drink at 6am...

5) Some minor sibilance when you say 6 at times. Big Esses coming forth. That can be tamed....

6) The whole thing sounds fairly centered but the parts are pretty clear - so separation appears to be good.

Overall a good job IMHO.....:D

wow thank you. i appreciate that alot.

yeah, i'm going to try and get rid of the esses when i redo the vocals. i'm going to try and aim my voice to a slant of the mic, i've heard that helps? then i'll try and find a way to de-ess whatever's left after that in the daw. i'm just figuring out all this stuff as i go, so all advice/input is welcome.

as for the vocals, it's all me. my wife was going to do the highs but when i was "in the zone" recording this song she said she didn't feel like it so i went ahead and did them.

i'll try and listen closely to the guitar and the piano and see if i can get it on sync, i hadn't noticed it was off.

again, thanks for your input. everything helps.

I like the song and the recording sounds really good. You've got a great feel going on with it. The only thing I can think that might make it better would maybe be changing up some of the vocal harmonies. They are pretty consistant throughout the song, so adding some variations may help to add some more dynamics. Either way, I think you've got something good here. :)

i like this song besides the ess problem. it sorta bugs me that most of the instruments are in the center of the panning spectrum but it's not really that big a problem. everything seems to come through nicely. i like it.

thanks guys. maybe when i re-record some things i'll play with the panning a bit, maybe move the guitar a bit left and the piano a bit right or something.

i agree about the vocal harmonies. i want to try and get my wife to do the highs as she can do them much better than i can. =)

Good song. Some timing issues in the intro. Like the guys said, the ess issue needs some attention and you should try to pan some of the instruments, it'll give it more life. A little variation here and there wouldn't hurt it either, the chord sequence just keeps repeating. In all, pretty good work.

Joe :):)
