Some nice recorded acoustic there. The bit between the intro and the first verse is quite rich and warm...good work getting that tone and sound. What mic do you use? Harmony vocs sound good too.

lol inexpensive mics and pre's

I would say but I might get scoffed at, either that or commended for getting the tone out of what I have...

I'd say it was the latter....

MXL 2001 mic and a joe meek JM27 (which has become a grab mic for a lot of applications) running through a behringer tube ultra gain pre into a firepod.

listening as I type. I really liek the acoustic sound you captured. That is through a firepod eh?

Nice vocals and harmonies, I like it....

mhmm. that is also with zero EQ. completely relied on placement for its sound.

How come you go through the Behringer Tube Ultra gain and THEN into the Pod? I'm just keen to know because I actually have the MIC200 Tube Ultragain and a FireBOX. I have never used the Ultra gain in conjunction with the Firebox. I initially bought the Ultra so I could boost the signal to an old SBLive! so I could record some of my grandma's old records to CD. Then I bougt the Firebox because it's obviously a big step up from the SBLive! and never got the Ultra out again.

So, how come you use them together? Does it give you more gain for recording acoustics? Doesn't having the Ultragain in the chain make the signal of lesser quality? Do you use both preamps at once? I have no idea, I'm just asking.

It does give me more gain, but that's not why I used it. The tubes in the ultragain were replaced with svetlana tubes, and honestly, it made a difference. I had all my other pre's at another location and I really wanted to record the acoustic, I was just antsy yeah know? You get excited about a song and you've gotta record it right then. So I used the b-ultragain. The only reason why is to add a lil tube warmth to it. It doesn't add a lot, it hardly uses the tubes, but it made the difference that I needed.

Cool...and you plugged the Ultragain in via the Pod or what?

mhmm - plugged the mics in and out of the ultragain and into the firepod.

yes. I guess I'm not sure what you're asking. Do you mean did I use the ultragain preamp and the firepod? yes..

The mic plugged into the behringer and the output of the behringer into the firepod to send the signal to my comp.

I think I mean, did you use gain on both preamps...like say a gain of 7 on the Ultra then a gain of 7 on the Pod. Anyway...I think I know what you mean.
