Hi all, MP3.com has just approved my new song Freedom, an easy-goin' pop song. Check it out if you like, it will be available for download until the end of the week. After that only as stream and on CD.

Enjoy!

well if you need advise on getting that mic upgraded you came to the right place

I'm listening to "Freedom" -- a pretty ambitious title, I must say... The recording quality of all the synth stuff is really high. It seems to me that the vocal is a bit lost in the mix and the vocal performance lacks power and intensity: it's just that she has a really nice Sade-like tone and I'd like more. I'd also like some variation and development of the rhythm.

How it was made

Hard2Hear, don't know exactly what you want to know, all? :-) This was recorded using Cubasis (in my living room, as all my productions). Bass and guitars have been played through a Boss VF-1 signal processor, the synth sounds came from my Korg X3 (filtered through several VST plugins). Hmm, what else? The drums, right, made with Tuareg, a great free drum construction tool.

LI Slim, you're right the vocals are indeed a little bit lost, but it was really a cheap mic and it turned out that the bad quality becomes more obvious when I turned them louder... :-( And, yeah, Kirsche (the singer) sounds like Sade and sometimes like Eddie Brickell, absolutley lovely. I also play with her in a live band and really enjoy her kind of singing :-)))) Another one she sang is Dreamtime (also at MP3.com) and if you want to hear more from her, check http://www.mp3.com/lugaburn for some more tracks of my live band :-))

Thank you

While im not an expert on recording or anything like that
I thought the song was really good. I really enjoyed the
keyboards and thought the voice was very soulful.

I LIKE IT!! The tune has a real catchy beat, great vocals harmonies, not just the melody lines, but your voices match really great. (unless it was the same singer doing both parts... ...then no wonder they match, I couldn't tell 'cause I had to give it a rather soft listen. I'll have to crank it up later!) Liked the verse and chorus lyrics too. Oh yeah, did I say that I liked it. Great job for a livingroom! If I tried that, the only thing you would hear for the vocal track would be me telling my dogs to shut the F#^K up :-) The only thing I would try to do differently with the song... ...GET SOME AIRPLAY!! Easier said than done, I realize, but the tune definitely has "IT". Tom.

Thank you all very much for your kind comments :) I really appreciate that :)
Concerning the mic: I can take a look at hit and find out the name if you really want to know, but it's a no name product that was given to me by another singing friend (she didn't want it anymore) and I guess it won't help you much, if I find out.... But anyway.

That reminds me of the trumpet tracks for another song. We recorded them in a village outside (the trumpet player lives there) and if you listen really carefully, you will hear some horses, a coach and tractor in the background :)
Yes, I try to get airplays, good luck, 'm already have some with older songs so it could happen :)

Again, thank you all for the kind comments, glad to hear that you like my music

Have fun!
