vocals are way too up front. I'm not crazy about the reverb, either. It's very slight, but gives the vox a small room sound. Is this song a vox over pre-made beat?? If so, you should try to get the individual tracks for the beat so you can mix it from the ground up yourself. Most times, mixing vocals with a pre-made beat doesn't sound natural.

seriously? 2 or 3 people told me the vocals are too light to go with the music, but what do you mean by too up front? like too loud?

I think he means that the vocal tone does not fit with the music. They sound like they are from a different place. Find a better verb and record 'doubles' of all the vocal tracks. This would also be a case where I would use some crazy processing on certain passages to create some movement within the song. Not sure I explained that right, but at least I know what it means. :)

Yup, too loud and not in the same "space" as the rest of the tracks. That means reverb or other time domain effects do not match with the instrumentals. Room ambience is different, if it's the room I'm hearing on the vox. It sounds like vox over a pre-made beat. Is it??

I believe it's fairly common that beats are mastered or finalized; essentially ran through a limiter and all the tracks are cohesive. Then a rapper will try to lay down some vox tracks over top and it doesn't fit. That's why I suggested, if you can, to get the original tracks so you can mix them yourself and get your vox to sit in the mix better. I like Jimmy's idea of double tracking vox.

oh ok but its just a simple instrumental i made and added vocals to it, not voice over or anything like that. so for my next song should i just like stick to the same thing i did here but lower my vocal volume? or try a different type of reverb?

Ah, so you made the instrumental, that changes it a bit. Yup, def lower the vox a little and try a different reverb. Work on getting the vox to sit better in the mix, not on top.

fwiw, I thought the instrumental part was good; just that the vox didn't match up with it. We see all the time here, where someone purchases or uses a beat made from someone else and then tries to rap over top of it and it never comes out good. It sounded like thats what you were doing, hence all my jabber.

cool man, have fun with it.
