the download and stream did not work for me which is really weird because I just listened to a bunch of stuff at Nowhere and had no problems...

I liked the song the first time when it was called Tuesday's Gone
by Lynard Skynard .)
I think it sounds pretty good but like I said it is a total rip off of that song. You could use the same chord changes but you would have to ax that guit solo in the beginning and add other instruments to make it sound different. I'm sure you didnt do it on purpose but that what happens when we write--we draw on what we have heard in the past.
The vocal sound is almost right but it sounds like there is some room reflection or something(effect) that is not allowing it to sit like a tight pro sounding vocal.

Nice sound. Vocals sit good. The echo is cool but needs to be eq'd to tone it down and push it back. You dont have to lower it just eq it so it sounds different from the source IMO.
The other thing I would do is strenghten the Chorus part. It lacks energy. Sing it stronger or twice, punch it up.

Q, for the record, on the album material i engineer NOTHING. I let the guys who do it for a living do the engineer work. So what you hear on this are MY feeble attempts at doing what I watch them do. It is ok, but when I get to post a final copy of one of our real songs, you'll see the difference.
Hmmm, I really dont like skynyrd. I thought it sounded much more like an Allman Bros tune myself. The Tuesdays gone song is in a completely different time signature. I could name you a hindred country songs that it sounds more like than Tuesdays Gone. If I had to call it a ripoff, I'd say a Train ripoff...it has more of their elements in it. I'm trying to sing Tuesdays Gone to it, and it can't be done. If you go off chords alone, it's really more like Runaround by Blues Traveller. As for the solo, well thats just my limited ability, and the reason I have a lead guitar player in my band who is a seasoned pro with 3 gold and 2 platinum records under his belt already with a #1 charting band.
Anyways, like I said before, these are my personal engineering practices, and not songs on my album. And don't worry, I write my own songs, and get paid well to do it!
