Hey guys,

Haven't posted in a while. Haven't really recorded anything worth sharing. Lots of crap. I spent 2 weeks on vacation working on music and came up with a whole 1 song. Anyways, this song came out pretty good I think. Minus my vocals and some slight outofkeyness in the prechorus on one line, I think it came out pretty good. But as always, I would love any comments anyone has.

Thanks and happy holidays.

It sucked ..

me in !!!!!! I really liked the whole thing. 2 weeks well spent I'd say.

Hey, it's a good mix on my system. You mentioned the vocal intonation...it's not bad, but you might consider lowering a couple of the harmonies where they're a bit out, because that's where it's most noticeable, to me anyway. Or hell, tune them, lol...they're backups. :D

do you mind if I ask what you did for drums? I like the sound a lot.

The drums are a set of samples I put together and sequenced in FLStudio. Usually I output the cymbals / hats seperately from the kick, snare and toms, and then output another track with everything (making 3 tracks). Then I do stereo verb on the hat track and snare / kick tracks (slightly different settings). Then I take that third track with everything and compress it so hard that it sounds like complete crap, and put them all together. The compressed track gives it a little more punch.

I actually just picked up the DFH2 sample set, but thought it came with a sequencer. Unfortunately it's just a sampler (the superior has a sequencer) and I don't have a decent sequencer on my Mac so I had to order a dvd drive for my PC so I can use DFH there in FLStudio. I like those samples a lot but I might still mix in a couple of my old samples and play with it all a bit. We'll see how that comes out if my DVD drive ever comes. :)

On a similar note, everything in the song is DI except the vox. Go go nyc apartment bedroom recording!

Thanks for the comments guys. Makes me feel better about my stuff.

That's some good fuckin' rock 'n roll. Keep that shit up!

I really like the guitar sound you got. How did you do it?

now, the song has a wildcard. "where are you heroes watching now?" Very catchy and memorable

The guitars are all DI straight into the Mbox. I use amplitube on all of them. Actually, I use amplitube on all the guitars, the bass and even some vox. I used the 7 string for that song, so the guitars are already pretty thick, but I usually double each rythem track with the distortion track, and then a cleaner sound to thicken it up since DI guitars are usually pretty dead sounding. For the heavier parts I put another track with a slight wah in the center for a little flavor. I'd kill to be able to mic a cab in my room, but the Amplitude is a fairly decent alternative.

Thanks. And keep up the good work. It impresses me that you did not spend a gazillion making this. Some people think you need the latest, greatest gear to make good sounding songs.

peace
