Hannah was with me over 20 years.

Still a little bit of a work in progress. Please let me know what you think so far ...

Thanks in advance!

Does the site no longer work w/ Soundcloud directly? I checked on other browsers and the player doesn't appear.

It works on my phone, I'll give it a listen later but wanted to let you know the link works ok for me.

Love the song, your website is down by the way.

I like cats too.
I loved your use of dynamics in the song, very nice arrangement with the strings and piano - wish I was that good at arranging and mixing.
There was some low end stuff in the first minute or so that I would have loved to have been brought forward, but that's nitpicking.
You have a terrific voice, but there were parts that were just a touch overdone, but I still wish I was that good.

Nicely put together tune!

Thanks for sharing,
Timbo

Thanks Tim. Arghhhh. Online life.

Sounds good to me, can't think of anything that sticks out. I might bring up the reverb on the vox just a bit, that's down to preference though.

Good tune man, a nice tribute to a friend. :D

Edit: I see what you mean with the player being gone. Gone on my PC too, it never actually shows on my phone so I wasn't sure what you meant.

Thanks E!

It's weird because the Soundcloud icon still appears in the advanced version of the text editor. I don't know if functionality was turned off by Soundcloud or the board here.

Timbo: My site is back up and running. Thanks for the nod!

Saw your site - it's a great site!

I'm wondering if if it's browser related. Just checked in IE 8 and it says to go to Soundcloud to listen to the content. I use "work" chrome (Version 37.0.2062.120 m) and can't see it ...

That's interesting (and thanks!), YD. I'm on Win10 and using all the browsers (Chrome/Edge/IE/Firefox), all report the player link broken, and I must visit SC directly to listen.

FYI -- All my sites are down due to database errors ... in server changes ... working on getting them up and running again. All day project, not done yet.

You host your own stuff? Sweet!

Actually I was upgrading linux servers through GoDaddy. 10 hours before I got everything to work. The sites are MUCH faster now.

I actually added some guitar parts and for the first time I was able to open air mix the piece. My wife won't let me play the song when she's around. Hannah's death is too raw.

New mix w/ new parts is on the above link and here:

Interesting that a cat managed to pull one of your best songs out of you.

Love is the answer. It truly doesn't matter so much how it occurs ... so long as one understands that it occurs ... and makes allowance for when it occurs ... and with what.

:D

Hannah died a week ago tomorrow. Her death was like watching someone drown slowly. Head above the water, head under the water ... day by day ... as she strongly fought to remain above surface ... over several months.

Our day to day was devoted to trying to keep her head up above said surface.

There were times Hol called "enough", but she was actually my cat ... and she communicated so well, I told my wife, "We wait for her sign."

Finally, she evidenced when her head would no longer bob above the surface ... and it was sudden. Fortunately, our vet was open, and we took her in immediately to put her out of her drowning.

Love hurts ... but that's life.

,,, and my song is about such echoes.

Timing is everything with old critters. We've had three ancient cats we'd had from kittens go in the last 5 years. It's a wrench and it hurts. The last one wouldn't let go. The night we determined it'd be a trip to the vet in the morning was the night he died.
All sad events but all well loved and cared for critters.
My wife'll want to hear this one.
Oh, good song - not sure about the intro or the earliest strings but after that it's a lovely ode.

When we moved into our home 10 years ago, we had a compliment of 7 cats. Fat Sam (35 lbs) was the first to go from cancer. Then the following year his sister died from kidney failure. Then we had a respite for a couple years, until 2 years ago we lost 3 in a year ... 2 of them sisters who both got cancer and died w/in 2 months of each other -- and the eldest of the 7, Belle, went after crawling over 20 years old herself. Hannah, who the song is about, was the queen of the house, and was one of the most personable and engaging cats I've ever known (we've had a dozen over the years). We're down to Sassafrassacatamattack ... whose 2 sisters died of cancer a couple years back. She's 17 herself, but in good shape.

Bass has been added. Any/all comments warmly appreciated.
