Hey guys looking for any advice i can get. First mix so i'm sure it's a bit rough. Style wise it's a tad different then what i usually post. No overly distorted/heavy guitars or anything in this one. Hoping to finish this one up today or tomorrow. Not sure how im going to this yet so don't mind the odd fade out at the end. Just looking for some direction if possible.

songs called: so long

So Long - downloaded ......

I'm getting a bit of Tom Petty type vocals from this one.....Cool !

Good tempo, nice slow groove that I dig....

I found the percussion/beats (the ones from the intro) had a bit more distortion than I preferred. I think it brings a great new feel to the song, but has too much scratchiness. Maybe it's volume but it's probably just me

I like the piano because it sounds very acoustic - if it's a patch it's a good one. Guitar also nice and solid in this piece.

Nice drums on the track - tam/ride play together nicely.

Good backing harmonies - makes this flow/sustain really nice. I think that's my favorite part of the tune....

Great Tune.....

:) :D :) :D

Thanks alot Idol/Gerry - I agree the intro sample is a bit scratchy. Thankfully i can adjust all that. The piano is actually a kurzweil kme60 keyboard i bought a few years ago just for the piano sounds and now rarely use. Thanks so much for the nice comments.

Sorry dude...I missd this in the commotion...I never saw it as a bold thread...one that is new to me...

Anyways, I like it. Reminds me of something that Rob Zombie, or Marylin Manson, or even NIN might do...doesn't sound like them, but it has that cool, and quirky vibe.... ;)

Nice clear vocals...they sit well. Performance is spot on for this song. I can't imagine them any different. Love the bas...it's sort of the main instrument. The keys and distorted part are good also, but that bass is really great.

Again, the vocals fit well....they sit so that you can hear them, and they are in the mix.

Good performance man...I like it. :D

Ed - no worries, i don't mind or really worry about how many replies or anything i get. Was looking to find out if I totally bombed on this one was all.

Thanks alot for the comments. Yeah it's a new bass so i had to kind of play with it. My old one was a 70 dollar bargain bin bass that i've abused for way too many years and it finally bit the dust. Upgraded to a 90 dollar bargain bin, that 20 makes a difference. (if i knew how to put that green smiley face in i'd put it here)

Thanks again for the nice comments, haven't heard any of your stuff in awhile. I've been working like a fiend so i hope i didn't miss it. Hope to hear some soon man.

Take care

Hey Gary, what's up? Yeah I really like your piano sound here... cool addition to your songs. The bass really drives the song too! The groove here is just freaky and cool, I dig it. No real nits from me... definitely like the deep bass/piano playing additions and groove to this song, real cool change... outro is groovy too, maybe even extend that some  :D

Yet another cool gbav tune. The distorted percussion reminds me of Manson too. The bass & piano really work well with the melancholy mood of the vocals. Nice lift in intensity into the chorus. I like that vocal melody..the chorus is catchy - been humming it for the last 1/2 hour :D

You vox have a character that is hard to forget. Very nice.

The song is really cool. Interesting how you rock on the piano.

The only thing I'd mention is that the in the intro the kick has a buzz. If that's intentional that's cool but if it's not I thought I'd mention it. :)

Nice song. :)

Cool stuff. Sounds good from here. Like the distorted bass. Always wanted to try that but never have. The song has a smooth groove to it that's cool.
Vocals fit it nicely. The clarity of the piano compared to the other instruments makes it really float on top of the mix in a cool way.

No nits from me ;)

Snake - Thanks alot man. Yeah it's not done yet i plan on actually ending it but not sure how yet. I've tryed a few things but haven't been to happy with anything yet. I thought it would be easy and i'd have updated it by now but no luck.

Bulls - Thanks a ton. Yeah I never see myself as catchy but i've kinda heard that before. I don't take it as an insult or anything just maybe when you work on the song and hear it so much it alters your perception on it. Thanks again for the comments man, looking forward to hearing your next tune.

Bigbubba - thanks alot. i use the piano to write all my songs so it ends up in alot of them even when it's out of place it seems. Will certainly go back and listen to that bass drum, haven't noticed it so i'll have to go in and figure that out.

Freudian Slip - Thanks for the comments. I'm a sucker for anything distorted. I'd throw a distortion plug in on a flute if i thought i could get away with it.

Thanks guys for the comments and help

Lol :D Give it a shot ;) The kick was a new one on me.

I'd be inclined to keep the scratchy percussion UP in the mix & the kit lower.
A bit more bass vol too- it sounds great but disappears a little behind the guitar.
Cool piece.
the piano is really good.
