There once was a note
I would like to pick-up a Shure SM58, but I've heard the newer mics are not as good. Is that true ? and if so, how old do you have to go to make the difference? 70s, 80s, ????

Never really noticed a difference ..... except for the fact that my older 58s look a lot more beat up.

Thanks, I heard the newer ones (last 10 years) are made in china, but if the general components are the same I guess it shouldn't matter?

Sound the same to me! The only difference I can tell is how they print the name nowadays! :D

Usta be the good old USofA with superior old school transformer but ..................

Last I knew it was Mexico. But to tell you the truth I'm not sure about now.

All I know is that counterfeit microphones are produced in China and sold at rock-bottom prices. What's even worse is that these microphones are hard to spot, unless you know what to look for -- the counterfeiters have gone as far as to reproduce the packaging and included accessories down to every last detail.
