I know this has been asked over and over again so forgive me (I have been reading all these post for hours now). My question is simple, I hope the answers are simple(Some suggestions go off a tangent on multiple equipment recomendations and frankly I have no idea what all of it is). I read alot of these posts and I see a lot good sugestions but not sure if that is right for my setup. I have been playing sax for over 15 years and am a computer tech so I am eager to jump in to the computer setup. I want to get into making some cd's, I don't want to make a living with the cd's but rather have a little fun and hand out cd's to the family etc... I already bought the Boss dr-670 and have a keyboard, I have a computer that I can use but don't have the quality sound card I need. Can someone give me some basic ideas of a complete setup I would want so I can record some songs.
Maybe something like:

1. Mic - model
2. audio/midi interface- model

Any help would be great!!

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the BBS NovaMan.

For micing your sax I'd try a search in the mic forum for a suitable mic. if you don't get any joy start a thread.

Assuming you'll only wanting to be recording one or two tracks at a time I'd recommend the M Audio audiophile 2496 as a soundcard. Two analogue inputs and MIDI in/out as well for your keyboard.

You'll also need some software and a preamp for the mic so that's something else to think about.

Time to get busy with the search function! :D

Thanks for the reply's guys. I have been doing a lot of reading and the sm 57 seems to be the mic of choice for this type of setup, which is already on my list. I have been doing a little reading about the Delta 1010 and the Audiophile. Some more questions I guess after a nights rest with all the food for thought, I was thinking something like this(help me out here):

sm57
Delta 1010
Sonar4
Boss Dr-670(I have)

Is there something else I would need with this setup?? If not I will start buying away! :D

Thanks!

Forgot Monitors(Haven't decided on a brand yet)

The Delta 1010 is a good entry level interface and is suitable if you need to be able to record several sources simultaneously (8 analogue, 1 midi, 1 digital). The considerably cheaper M Audio Audiophile 2496 will give you 2 analogue inputs/outputs and Midi in/out as well. If you need all the extra ins/outs though, the 1010 is a good choice.

You'll also need a mic preamp. A very popular budget chocie around here is the dual channel M Audio DMP-3. I own one and can vouch for it as a good bit of gear for the money.
