Excellent... how many do you have now? Everyone here should have at least one, much better buy than most any other $290 mic I can think of... I am envious that you have two..

Only two now. I had several more before I quit recording the last time in '97. I swore I'd never sell them, but priorities change over time.
I still remember my first one. It was the same as you feel with your first quality guitar or drum kit. At least with me. A hell of a step up from the crappy RadioShack mic I started with.
I think back in '84 or '85 I paid $375 brand new in the box at a now closed store in Raytown, Missouri. I can't believe what they have skyrocketed to now. Hell, used is the only way I'd buy one now.

Damn straight it was! Man I used to drive from Whiteman AFB once a week just to drool all over the Tascam 38's and 58's they sold.
I was in heaven in that store and they treated me right.
Last time I was there a couple of years ago I stopped by and they were all closed up. What happened?

Most of the guys are working a Monster Music in Independence. But I havent Kept up with Pat.
I remember getting stuff right next to members of Kansas, and shooting Star and the Rainmakers in there.

Thanks Chess, but I'm out of the baby business. Have been for 20 years. My 20 year-old son is a United States Marine.
Darrin, yeah I remember the guys mentioning them. I never saw anyone from the bands though. Of course I could have been standing right next to them and not known it though.
Loved their music but i didn't keep up with faces unless they belonged to Fleetwood Mac.
My job sent me to KCKS for a year two years ago. I lived in Prairie Village on Linden street. My office was is OP near 83rd st. close to I35. I bought my Kurz in KCMO. I can't even remember the store. Cousin Jedd's Guitar shed? No, I don't think that was it. It was somewhere close to Leiben's Music on 13 St. or around there.
They had a lot off stuff there whatever it was. I didn't see anything with reels on it though. Alot of nice keyboards. The salesman almost had me talked into a Roland RD300 which I loved, until I sat down at the Kurzweil. There was no comparison in the piano sound. I played a Steinway all through college and after. That's a sound and a feel you will never forget. You should have seen the salesman trying to stuff an 88 into a 99 Mazda Protege. I though we were gonna have to stick it in the trunk and tie a red flag on it.
We had to take it out of the box to get it into the back seat.
Those were good times. See what beer does to ya. I'm done rambling.

I work out of an office 3 blocks away from 83rd and I-35.
You should come back, the Musicians friend Distribution center is here and they have a clearance outlet where everything is cheap. and we also have a Mars now too.

I had heard that MF was opening there. The last time I looked for something on the web site I happened to check "Employment Opportunities" and saw that they were getting ready to open a DC in KC. That was two years ago.
I really love KC. In the future I may move back, but my Mother is not in good health and I need to stay close for now. That's why I'm not there now. When I was given the promotion my Mom was fine, but her diabetes(sp) had gotten worse so I came bck to Illinois and accepted the demotion.
Ya know if they paid a liviable wage for what you knew plus commission I'd consider them for employment. I'm just not into the high school scene. I don't think I would fit in. "That ol' fucker over there don't know nothin. Come over here, I'll show ya the latest wiz-bang for yer buck." And all the while he's thinking, "Christ I gotta talk this guy inta buyin' this thing or my Landlords gonna throw me out."
I don't work well off of commision. "Look, here's what it does, ask me some questions and I will answer them honestly. If I can't I will find someone who can. What are you looking for and what do you want it to do for your sound?" as a former salesman I ask a lot of qualifying questions first to try and save me some time. Then I try to narrow that down to specifics if I can.
People who know what they want are the easiest to deal with. They may not know what they need, but they know what kind of sound they are looking for. Done rambling again.
