How exciting! Another cheap Chinese mic. Just what we need more of in the world. : )

Cheap yes but cheap?

Based on what I hear from my own SE2200-A and my own SE3, I can only expect it will be better than most from that continent.

...for those interested, wav samples of this mic will be posted on this site (shortly) for you comparison:

...or if you're REALLY interested, make an offer here:

...when SE introduced the 2200A, I purchased an introductory model at only $139 with case and spider mount...it's an outstanding mic for a bargain price...let's hope the M1C follows suit...

i knew that if i waited long enough they would make a new product in time for Christmas!

From perusing your website, you appear to have some kind of unhealthy relationship with SE. Maybe you should get out more and spam less.

Get out more?
Ive been playing/reading music since 1963. :p
(Lets see now, 2005-1963=42 years?)
I was doing recording work (to 2" tape) for an NBC Producer/Arranger in the late 70's at $150 an hour (not bad dough back then!!!).
I bought my SE2200A on eBay for $118 (is this the unhealthy relationship? or is this the spamming part? :p
I'll watch my over-enthusiasm and I'll also be sure to get out more.
In fact, I'm doing an Orchestral gig Saturday.
1 rehearsal Saturday afternoon.
2 performances Saturday night.
No sweat!
Thanks!

Well, you've got pictures of SE mics (and no other mics), testimonials about SE mics (and no other mics), reviews of SE mics (and no other mics), links to the SE website (and to no other manufacturer's website) and letters from SE thanking you for the "press". You also post here a lot about SE mics and just posted above what is essentially a press release for SE. That, to me, looks like you have some knd of relationship with SE.

sE Mics Yada Yada Yada

NKJ:
Yes, I have been bit by the sE bug.
Yes, I do shout their name on high.
The reasons?
My primary reason for sharing the sE excitement as I do is primarily due to my humanistic tendencies to want others to get good things for a decent price. I spent a portion of my life living in the wonderful mode of poverty (not a very good time in my life-Dad lost his job then mom died, I lived at home with no electricity, gas, food, etc and then we lost our house and most of our belongings. :( ) and because of that I have always tried to find the best I could for whatever dolllar I had to spend. When I do find things of good quality and for a good price I have always shared that with others. :D
The other reason is the sE story.
sE was initially having their mics made by other Shanghai manufacturers like everyone else (ie MXL, ADK, M-Audio, Nady, etc,), however, what they found was happening was that these mic manufacturers were stealing the sE designs, rebadging them for other companies who were then selling them as their own.
sE essentially said to hell with that, we'll just do our own R&D, do our own manufacturing, pay our employees better, guarantee lifetime employment, hire the best available engineers and make a higher quality microphone.
(Did you know that German Microphone Engineering found its way to China due to Communist ties way back when?)
If you look at most of the Chinese mics, they are generally low-cost, do an OK job and some, as we know, even excel. ;)
If you look at the current sE line, they have better electronics, have a more professional looking exterior finish, and are of a much higher quality overall.
They are also getting much higher marks and finding a quickly growing acceptance in the US Studio Market.
I have read that the sE mics are the fastest growing mic line in Europe.
They certainly aren't the cheapest mic line in town so there must be another reason for the high level of interest and acceptance. Could that be that they might be better? I believe so.
The SE M1C is the first LDC I have seen them release under $200 MSRP for this current mic line.
I am guessing that they have built this mic using engineering from their more expensive mics (back-engineering) and taken out the bells and whistles like the HF pass and 10dB pad found on their next step up price-wise mic, the SE2200-A.
I have seen Nady and MXL and Apex and a holy host of other companies selling LDC's for under $200 for quite some time and most aint exactly very good.
I still want to own a few $1000 AKGs and a BLUE or 2, some Shures and Soundeluxes and so on but I cant right now. However, I believe I have found a company who makes a very good product for a very good price. :D
Thanks for your ear!

I used to get accused of this all the time and so, even though I like a good witch hunt, I remember what it was like to be called spam on every time I posted in the mic forum. With that in mind, it doesn't make sense for me to pass judgement!!!

I was like, "Alan's a nice guy, and they make good stuff with good warranties". People were like, "How much are you being paid to like them?". I wish they ever sent me any money, rather than the other way round. :D

I remember being miffed when I bought an SE2200 that I had to post the warranty card to the States or somewhere ... things have since changed and I'd be happy to buy SE again. FWIW, I'd probably only bother with the SE3 and the SE2200A, but that's not to say the others aren't fine.

So all in all ... meh. Whatever. This forum is still WAY better than it used to be when it was just a mud-slinging zone (in which I partook). :)

i happen to think that we will see a bunch more new mics come out in the next few weeks.... i am wish i had the money to buy some new ones but... i am broke at this time, so i will wait until i have more money.... myself i really wonder about maybe a PMI product from the B stock section...

The OP does read like an advertisement for SE. You're not the only one who noticed it.

Unless he's got a business relationship other than that of being an enthusiastic and satisfied customer, I don't see it as spamming. Listen...the guy has some stuff that's working out for him and he's simply professing his love for the gear. Lets just leave it at that.

I would suggest however, that ya round out and diversify the collection just a bit...but hell...if it's workin' for you...best of luck. :D ...he's a good guy in my book.

Do I dot dot dot too much?

Anybody test drive this puppy? - M1C

Has anyone run this guy around the racetrack yet? Where does it fit in in the mic pecking order? Does it soar with the eagles or run with chickens? It looks alot like that nEwmAn mic - gee.
