PLease can you listen to the 1st track on the link and let us know what you think of the mix quality?

Cool playing. :)

Nice song.

Maybe boost the lead a little.

Nice and heavy. With the lead boosted this should sound nice.

The bass might be a little rumbly in places. If you have verb on it, recommend lessening it. :)

Or just leave it like it is.

Nice outro solo.

Pretty cool. The lead that starts in the right spreaker might be a bit low. The second lead that's more in the middle seems to be a good volume. I find the toms a little boomy, like as if there might be a bit too much 300-500hz...somewhere around there, just guessing.
Besides that, pretty heavy and everything is audible. On a personal note, I hate those click-y, triggered bass drums with no low end...But I realise that's what works for this kind of music. Good job over all. Couldn't have been easy to mix.

Nice riffs I think you swept the mids a little too much. I always end up doing this too cus Metallica did that. But in order to sweep the mids like them you have to be incredible at mixing and not only that but have incredibly expensive recording equipment.

Thanks all for the posts.
The scooped sound is what I was going for. I beleive the lead guitars to be at the right levels, but thats peronal preference. Is the tone of the song ok?
I didnt add reverb to the bass guitar. I like the direct sound of bass.

Thank you all.

The kick wasnt triggered, but I do get what your saying. I could probably add some lo end on the kik, Im usually caustious of lo end. :)

Good stuff Eck. Its nice and tight, well done. Sound quality is fine, I have phones on so I cant really judge it. Playing is terrific.

I'm curious as to how the bass and the rhythm are EQ'd. Also what FX and dist. are being used on the rhythm. Nice and crunchy. I've tried a couple of times to get a sound like this going without any luck. First fake drums, and second fake bass don't leave the same passion in there. Also when I'm just one guy trying to think out all parts, it's a little hard. I'm also not used to playing guitars like in this particular genre. But I could always practice.

Thanks Big Bubba.
I didnt record this song, I only mixed it. Bass was Eqd in the manner of boost at around 150Hz cut at around 200Hz and boost ALOT at around 5Khz.
Guitars were hi passeed to around 150Hz and also cut a good bit at around 250Hz (the metal scoop zone). I also did very very small tweaks in the mid range, and lo passed at around 12kHz.

Eck

BIG sound. I like the levels of the lead work in the fade out.
The snare seems very deep at times - very 3D.
I'm not a fan of super fast bass drumming & the kick is pretty well up in the mix so I found that a little disconcerting but I know that's the big deal in modern metal.
The intro was a very little bit thin but oh what teeth when the band came in eh Grandma? So good contrast.
A good mix, sounds like a bought one.

Nice thick sound. Oddly to my ears your rock-mix sounded way heavier than metal-mix. :D

lol.
The tracking was better in the Rock mix. :)I suppose it is a metal mix, but I already have a Metal mix up. ;)

Thanks all for the comments.
I dont like how it sounds as soon as the song starts, the rythym guitars are a bit too processed sounding which could lead to the thinness you said about. I beleive the guitars must have been recorded direct, although the lead guitars sound really nice IMO.

Any more opinions before I let this thread go into the deep realms of time.

turn up the snare a tad bit. and the lead guitar.
Cheers.
I dont want to turn up the lead as it will take away the power from the rythym, but Ill look into the snare.
