Hi,

I wanna know what i can do with the following ( I want to make a little home studio to record my band ):

Beringer 802a 8 chan mixer.
Tascam MF-P01 Porta Studio.
Set of drums.
Bass guitar.
Electric guitar.
2x Mics Stageworks UM-7000.
PC

I am also getting a 100w bass amp and a 100w guitar amp.

Here is the bad part. I only have a room that is 10' x 10'. Is there any use at all for this or do i need something bigger? do i need any other stuff? What are the best FX pedals to get cos i cant get all of them.

Thanks

Well, it sounds like it'll be a little crowded with that drum set, but if it's a small kit, you could probably angle it out from one corner

You might want to look into some sort of acoustic treatment for the walls, and most importantly, ear plugs!

You don't specify how many people will be in the room, so I am guessing 3?

I agree with tonester, many times keeping an eye and treating the rooms sound will get you much further in recorded sound quality than better gear.

My band is a 4 man band

The walls have been modifyed by me, slowly. It costs alot but i have paded the whole room with that stuff that people use to keep the heat in their house... It is like pink fiber glass strands. It is about 3" thick. I am saveing to buy some old carpet to drape over that with some wrinkles in it so that there is more surface area and so that the sound does not bounce straight off it back. also gonna put some carpet on the floor.

The drums are a 5 pice set with 2 crashes and a ride... It is already in one corner. pointing out to the middle.

The only proble with the little drum hut is that it is made from corigated tin... Is that a big problem??

Thanks for your help thus far.

whooops

just 3 for now but we might get a 4th person some day...

The MF-P01 only records 1 track at a time, which may be too limiting. The Porta02 records 2 tracks simultaneously. The 414mkII and 424mkIII record up to 4 tracks simultaneously.

Soundwise and feature-wise, you get the most bang for your buck with the 424mkIII./DA

So is the room big enough or not? thanks for the other info but can someone answer my first question aswell?

If You Can only record one track at a time. Its big enough to use but tight enough quarters to Make you feel like sardines. at least the treatments should be cheap enough.

Get some cloth to go over the insulation before you breath it all in and die.
