hey guys -

Well, I have about $1000 to spend on a new PC Recording Setup. I want to know what you guys think -

I have -

Amd athlon 1600 Computer
SM 57 Microphone
Cubase SX

I am thinking about picking up the following -

M-Audio Delta 1010 on ebay - $500

Studiophile sp5b speakers - $250

(?) some kind of mixer (?) - $250

Will this setup give me everything I need to make a decent recording? And what kind of mixers are good?
Thanks for your time -

What type of music do you record?

Do u record yourself or a band?

Our music has some heavy guitars and it sounds a bit like the band TOOL. We will be recording guitars, bass, and possibly drums (might just do drums in the studio however).

You may have to spend a wee bit more on your set-up.

Cubase SX is killer! I would get that software. Steinberg really out did them selves this time! Get it from ebay, in fact get everything you need from ebay. That's what I do. :D

A Shure 57 is a great mike for snare drum and guitars but your gonna need more mikes then that if you are recording drums, guitars and vocals!

The Delta 1010 is great! Stupendous soundcard.

The monitors... well... I really don't know much about them but if I had to guess I would say they aren't very good. Better off with JBL LSR 25's or Event Ps 6 or 8, or Tannoy's, or Yorkvilles.

I would recommend this set-up for your computer.

I just bought this from www.xtechnology.com
