New purchase brings me closer to completion!

home and portable studio(s) finally coming together.

I've been spending the last couple of months slowly procuring all the stuff I will n eed to record live and then mix down at home, as well as maybe do some light recording at home.

Today I went to Guit. Center and bought a pair of KRK Rokit 8s, some stands and the RTA Creation Station desk. They were running a special where if you buy a pair of Rokit 5s you get a free Auralex acoustic treatment kit, so I asked and they threw that in. They also price matched an internet price I found for the KRK's at $199.00 per.

So this whole deal cost me about $736. Pretty good deal it seems.

Anyhow, I though I'd share. once I get a hold of a dig camera from someone I will snap some pics.

The Rokit 8's are linked to their own page but on there it says "floor model blowout special". I figured they would tell me they can't match a used/floor model price, so instead of taking that one I took a print out of the page I just linked. SHowed them that, he typed in some stuff, and said "yeah we can do that".

The day before he had told me that the lowest price their computer lets them do is $224.99. If I had gone to Dallas a friend of mine at the GC there might have given me even better than $199, but I ain't gonna bitch. Thats a hell of a price!

I looked for a lower price on the creation station, and no one had one better than the $179.99 GC gave me.

Speaker stands were $99.99

I'm picking up my auralex today.

Lesson learned, if you're spending a few hundred bucks, ask them if they match their own deals on a lower tag item. I would bet that they usually will, which means free cables, and other such stuff.

No prob. I hope my good find can help some other folks get some monitors they love for a great price.

Alright, so here is a shot I took on my phone once I had the desk and the monitors set up.

I still have some foam to put up this week.

The firepod and power conditioner are in one of the rack cases below. Since I'll be carting those to on site jobs I won't ever rackmount them in the desk. But I will have some stuff I'll put in the desk racks eventually.

But here's a look at the beginning.

(I'm anticipating the standard.....why are you mixing in the corner, etc......)
