Ok, so I'm working on my flow, and beat production at the same time, with school and work it's giving me limited time, but I thought I'd keep you guys updated with my progress.

This first part is the newest song I'm working on, the description explains it but it's personal, lyric wise, the beat is mine, and I wrote everything. I was curious what people thought of the vocals on this one, not how distorted they are, but the flow, and the way I sound.. I thought I changed up a lot.

The second one is simply the beat to the above song and I want critcism on that as well, I know I've been improving in a lot of aspects, and I'd like to see where, why, and what else I can do, to do better.

The beat itself is probably too loud, I think I just established that fact. I need to lower the beats attributes so that my vocals don't have to be blasting and distorted just to be slightly heard. So I established that on my own. thank god.

Anywho, PLEASE comment, thanks in advance!

Vocally, no. But you were on target when changing notes. But you still sound like some random dude who just started singing.

Hmm... Interesting... The thing of it is, when I use my Diaphram, as you put it. I become louder, and no matter what I do, it distorts on my microphone.

I'll have to try some different things... Thanks

This is where gain staging comes into play. Sing loud while adjusting the volume until there isn't distortion. Also make sure you have some distance from the mic. What equipment are you using?

Well, right now all I'm using is a Samson C01U USB Condensor microphone, into Audacity for recording.......

:(

Okay. Just make sure you be careful when setting recording levels. Gain staging is very important. Also, mic placement is key. Get between 4-6 inches from the mic, sing from diaphram(i know i spelled that wrong lol), and then adjust the volume from there. There's alot of info on the net about recording vocals and stuff. Good luck yo.

Preciate it. I've been doing that, but I don't get what you guys mean by sing from the diaphragm. I know you don't mean sing louder, but do you mean sing fuller? Because I've tried and it comes out horrible, what you hear there, is probably the best I can do. I guess I'm similar to the way Missy Elliot records, in a lot of her songs. Not much hype. =/

Just keep trying yo. It's kinda of hard for me to explain how to do it. I had to learn how cause i played saxophone from middle school to high school and still now from time to time. It's like, you've got to visualize actually singing from your stomach! I know that sounds crazy. Search online. I'm sure that have better explanations than mine. LOL.

I think I know what you guys are talking about, I mean I did play the Tuba in highschool. But, I guess I gotta figure it out on my own. Right now I'm trying to figure out this input/output crap.
