I got a gift cert to guitarfetish over the holidays, so I finally broke down and replaced the old foambuckers in my cheapo SG copy. I put a Mean 90 in the bridge and a Dream 90 in the neck, and I went ahead and replaced all the pots and lined the cavities with copper foil.
I've been wanting to test both of these pickups out for a while now. So far I'm liking the sound, certainly a lot better than what was in there. I can hear all the notes in the chord now; the difference at the neck position is especially noticeable.
I'm thinking of making a new pickguard at some point, as this one's pretty flimsy and also I'd like to extend it around to that area around the knobs. The jack was busted when I bought it, and it's been held on since the mid-90s by a piece of a maxell tape case, so I'd kinda like to cover that up.
