...Superlux (not the central vacuum cleaner system, but a division of Avlux) just introduced their take on a cost efficient phantom-powered ribbon mic...what makes this one kind of interesting is that it has an easily replaceable ribbon element, so no need to send it away for ribbon replacement, if and when it becomes necessary...I've used some of the Superlux drum mics and they're actually quite good for the low cost factor...once the price drops on this new model (Superlux mics show up frequently on Ebay) it may be worth a look...

...I'd be especially interested in hearing it go up against the Karma K6 which is a terrific inexpensive phantom-powered ribbon mic (currently being offered for only $199 on Karma Audio's website)...not sure if Karma offers a replacement ribbon element that is consumer-serviceable though...
