Hi guys...haven't posted for a while becuase I've been collob-ing with people lately. This is an older song re-done, and as usual, I'm not sure about it. Let me know if there's anything wrong with the mix, I value most people's opinion here. Thanx
SUNDAY MONKEY

I think the mix is pretty close. I think the bass guitar sounds great. The guitars sound meaty and the snare has a nice snap to it. I'd like to hear a tambourine in the chorus to move things along. Nice work, RAMI.

Re-mixing it...Vox are way too loud...Remember kids, don't mix right after tracking.

Hey, not a bad idea...It can use something to pick up the rythm in the chorus...Tamborine sounds like just what it needs. Cool...You see, THIS is why I post my songs here.

You caught it... :) Vox are big... There's a little free-range wandering movement going on in the upper mids too (may be a function of the boosted vox). My wife sez not enough bottom, and I agree. Let that sweet bass guitar track breathe! Love it when it jumps the octave in the setup lick...

One other thing, are you choosing martini dry on purpose? Some folks dig it, I'd moisten the master just a teeny bit.

As usual, you're a mutant. :)

Thanx Phil...You find it too dry? I have verb and delay on the guitars and vocals...I do like my mixes drier than most, I must admit, but I'll see if this one needs a little more moisterizing after my ears settle in by tommorrow...Thanx dude.

You calling me kid? ANyway, here's Snake's drunk review (sorry, but I can't "undrunk" myself now ;) )...

Okay I gotta admit Sunday Monkey is a great name for any song. Great rocking intro. I don't know if you turned down the vocals yet, but they still sound too loud. I say a little more clean guitar in there for the first verse too. Man this song rocks, I'm liking it. Seriously cool rocking sound, the guitars sound great... it sounds quick paced and right to the point.

I'll listen to this again while sober ;)

Go all out tamberine Rami, I love that touch to choruses in songs

Nice guitar tone....somewhat groovy type rythum...flows together well. Cool tune Rami....Can't say much about it as the mix seems pretty good. Nice sounds, and the tones you chose fit well together. Vocals sit well, and everything is clean and clear. Real critiques will have to come from songwriters who have more melodic ideas than I do. Something like what Casey suggested....ideas to change some dynamics to fill out certain aspects I never think of doing.... :o

Cool tune.

When ya gonna let me play around on one of these? :) Or, even a mastering job..

Thanx guys...No, you're still listening to the "Too loud vocals" version...I'm re-mixing as we speak.

Just a sidenote: I hate explaining my lyrics because I don't believe in that, but I want to explain one thing I find amusing. Sunday Monkey comes from the fact that I always thought that in "Michelle" by the Beatles, Paul was saying "Sunday Monkey won't play me I'm no song" instead of the French line "Sont des mots qui vont tres bien ensemble"...Which is why I have that mellow riff from "Michelle" in there...Just thought I'd share that.

Sound good to me. One thing, and I'm serious. It just need cowbell. Serious.

Lyrics, schmirics....if I tried to explain my lyrics, I'd just have to tell you all, I just wrote em, and don't even have a clue what I wrote.....
Lyrics should just add to the song, and I don't feel they really need to reflect anything in real life...ie...they can be silly, if that's the idea of the song. They can be very deep to the writer, or just a thought. Your lyrics fit the context of the song, and you sing them well. Just the final piece to the puzzle....or better yet, the 12th beer in the 1/2 rack..... :D

I'll take you up on that. Probably the Mastering sounds good. When I have my next 10 songs together for a CD, I'd be more than ecstatic to let you Master them. I basically wing it when it comes to mixing...I've done alot of reading and try to educate myself as much as possible, but I am no engineer or producer. I'd love someone like you from a different musical background and much more knowledge to tackle some of my tunes...Definitely.

It's has turned into a funny thing to say, but I believe you're serious...And I can hear it too. Good idea.

Just speaking for myself here (obviously) but I think cowbell is an awesome touch to some songs, & I can feel it in this one. You should at least give it a try.

Lyrics-wise, I can't comprehend them right now  (beer), but in general I listen for the sound of the vocalist in the music mix, not what they're saying. Plus the same set of lyrics can be interpreted so many different ways by different people Personally if I like a song's music I end up finding my own interpretation of the lyrics that I like, probably different than the artists ;)

I actually have a cowbell & I record it direct & dig that sound. (I should really cut down on the drunk posting... sorry  )

Does that mean you'll never post again?

Haha, good point. I don't know... jamming on guitar really loud, having a little beer, & surfing on this message board just seem to go so good together ;)

Sounds like a Utopian society to me. What more can you ask for?
