Great playing. That little bit at 00:18 is cool.

Mix sounds fine to me. Only minor thing I can think of is I find the lead a smidgen loud in parts. I mean smidgen like a few dB at most. I found the bass balance fine, up until 02:19, punch-in? I find the odd note sticks out a bit too much but not excessively so. Bit of level adjusting on it, EQ and or compression should be an easy fix.

Ever listen to Acoustic Alchemy? This stuff reminds me a lot of them. I use to listen to those guys endlessly. If you haven't, check them out I think you would really like them.

Melodic stuff, nice job JMarcomb!

Hi JMarcomb...loved this man. I'd give a left nut, to be able to play like that..just some killer playing man.

Also listened to "Fall", that was a nice piece of work too. Real great mood, almost had a zztop "rough boy" kinda vibe to it, not the playing..heck you sound better than him. Really great tunes!

first off, i loved the version of 'every breath you take', really well done.......

as for ador......amazing playing......you're quite a guitar player.......nice percusion sounds..........well done

"I'll quit clogging up the board after this tune "

Yeah Jeff, carry yourself outa here. Go learn to play the guitar,
man. NOT. How could anyone with this kind of talent think that they're clogging up the board. There's plenty of room. You should post a new tune daily.

dtb slowly goes down the stairs, to the basement, pulls out his rusty .22 rifle, loads it full of bullets, takes dead aim, and shoots holes in all his gear. bye, bye, see ya.

haha.. thats pretty funny. :)

I think its more important for people that are new to recording and that need help to occupy the boards

Thanks for the concern :)

This is what I wrote in Jeff's 'spaghetti' thread..
I have heard some great acoustic instrumental albums.. Ever hear of a band called 'Acoustic Alchemy'?

cool..

This tune is incredible.. everything is rediculously good.. great mix/song/playing.. maybe in a few areas the solo got a *hair loud*, but it's only in a few spots.. It probably wouldnt matter if you didn't change it.. but I would.

the sweetest piece since 'Blue Moon'

5 stars!

Sounds great!
Man thats some nice playing!
What kind of guitar is that, great tone.

Those slides you did at 2:05 were awsome!
I don't think I ever heard anyone do that before.

Really great tune,thanks for sharing,
Pete

now this is cool...

Kinda like flamenco, mixed with "Classical Gas"... or something... the "kick drum" sound... love that... the song reminds me a bit of that movie with that Spanish actor whasisname... played in "zorro"... ah... Banderas... that's it. What movie was it? Mariachi, or something...

I do think the bass clips in a few places... that's what we're hearing as too loud... maybe not... it's tricky to listen on monitors anymore, since it means re-wiring the Delta 1010 everytime I use phones to record  but promise to check it on monitors soon... sounds too delicious to let slip away just yet.

clogging the place up with quality!

:)

BTW Jeff... due to the popularity of your avatar  when we gonna hear the JMarcomb, banjo-version of "Rainbow Connection?" ;)

Actually I was going to ask him if he'd like to collab on a cover of an Emmet Otter song!

Maybe "River Bottem Nightmare Band" or "Brothers"... ;)

Hey Jeff, I'll give this a listen after work. Sounds like it'll be an easy listen though :)

I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. You should let your mom pick out more of your songs:D

the lead gtr has a nice intimacy to it, that is very 'real' sounding. Perfect amount of reverb, and all that jazz.

nice note choices too...and you didn't 'bastardize' the octave stuff either...

everything about this instrumental is really pretty good. Hard to find 'nit-picks'.

bass ok too;)

as far as clogging up the board....I wouldn't worry about that. The board needs to have the 'best' to the 'worst'. Personally, if the board just had ALL sucky music, I would be looooong gone. But it doens't, and I like to hang here a lot. great mixes and playing give GREAT examples of what people can do with 'modest' equipment, and is a living proof you don't need to spend $100k to get a good sound nowadays. Plus, if there is something that someone really likes, it is nice to 'learn' how the writer/player did it.

Now you jackass....I gotta get a Tritone, and a nylon now... thanks for nothing!!!:)

.Oh yeah.... I know this one.
...Its on my vol. 1 HR compilation CD that I tote around in my truck. Great stuff man, Im here at the shop, so I cant compare to the original..... but i'll get into it later.

Great stuff Jeff!

Perfect Everything.

(1) How did you mic the rhythm acoustics?
(2) did you EQ them?
(3) what kind of guitar(s) was/were played on the rhythm acoustics; and
(4) would you mind personally recording every acoustic rhythm track I might have for the next 5 years or so?

That's all the questions I have for now, Mr. Marcomb.

Nice song. Great tone on everything and nice playing. Such a rich sound on everything. I for loved the way the bass compliments everthing. It sits real nice.

I guess my only deal is I have trouble listening to instrumentals longer than 2:30 - 3:00 or so. Just me I guess.

Terrific job though.

Very nice music Jeff! Great acoustic. What box is that verb? Just curious...I remember you told me you recorded the verb live.
There's a buzzing sound that I don't care for much...and I'm not sure what it is. Like a rattle or something....little distracting. Not horrible or anything. Not sure how necessary it is for this genre, but I was craving a little more variety in the percussion. Sounds like you found a loop on the triton and ran with it. Sounds fine, but at 4:46 a couple rhythmic changes would be nice. Just my opinion. Mix sounds very nice, and of course the playing is excellent!
A nice listen!

Oh, I'm still working on projects 12... :)

Excellent! as Mr. Burns would say. There's nothing much to say because it's so good. This goes on my list to listen to in the car as I'm driving along the Highway.

Thanks a bunch ... you guys are my favorite audience :)

I just learned the chords for rainbow connection for participant.. heres a start -- I can do a pretty decent Kermit impersonation so, I might have to add frog vocals in there as my vocal showcase

Emeric

Hey thanks for checking on the mix for me. Yes.. i also noticed some levels that were off. I'll get back to it and make those fixes. Thanks for your help!

David

:) Im glad you liked the playing man... Thats pretty cool... a zztop kinda vibe to it.. I never thought about that-- maybe I should buy a big grey beard?-- what do you think? :) Thanks for the ears!

powderfinger

Thanks for checking of my tunes. every breath you take.. was the first tune i made with my DAW.. it took a little bit of work because I really didnt know what I was doing :) Thanks again for the friendly comments

dtb

hheehehe.. I gotta another chuckle out of that today :) funny stuff... A Uke? Is that the thing that looks like a coconut half :)

fenderlikingood

thanks again rick for your time. thats cool you still remember this one.. it seems like a googol years ago! I still work on trying to get the stinkin' guitar tones to sound better... im never satisfied with them .. I feel like Eric Johnson :)

B.SABBATH

Hey! Sorry.. I didnt reply to your comment in the other thread sam- I dont even remember seeing it. sorry.
I have never heard of acoustic alchemy before.. but since you guys mentioned it .. I will have to see it I find it on the internet and give it a good listen... If there is a resemblance .. you guys would know.
Sweetest since blue moon :) I have to think how I can surpass that song........ I have to be able to some how... hmmmmmmmm. Thanks again sam!

muzeman

Hi Pete! That is my Takamine acoustic guitar. Not the best studio guitar, but it works for me... I think it is a really nice looking guitar... doesnt sound as good as a Taylor or Martin though.. but I can make it ;) hehe... Those slides are from my fretless bass.... bb2000 .. that bass that Van Halen bassist used... the bass is way to edgy for my style of music... I have to start looking for a new fretless soon. :) Thanks for stopping by Pete.

participant

I just started on the frog song and its starting to take shape already :) I might have to make my singing debut on it. Yikes! Sorry I dont watch movies.. so I wouldnt know that Banderas movie you were talking about... ET was the last movie I saw :) hehehehe .. Yes.. the bass is clipping like a set of hedge trimmers. I'll fix that :)
As always thanks!

Sluice

Hey thats against your religion.. I thought you dont do cover songs :) Project 12 must be green and moldy by now... you must put it in the fridge or eat it right away! :)

mixmkr

Hey mix

Fwwwwewww... it passed the mix test :) Yeah.. your totally right about not needing to spend much to get a fairly pro sound. Hahha... Yeah.. upgraded my triton a couple months ago to the Triton Studio... :) If I had a drummer I wouldnt need it! At any rate im in love with it. No nylon strings in this song... to boomy without a nice preamp and compression... thats next on my list!!!! Thanks Mix!

Guernica

Hey.. you were listening to my tune in your truck.. thats pretty cool of ya. Thanks alot for checking out this one and dont work too hard at the shop!

chrisharris
Hey chris... I use x/y micing for the acoustics... basicly the heads of the mc-012 pair right over each other 90 degrees from each other and about 10 inches away from the 12 fret. I did not use EQ, but the the mic pointing towards the sound hole really needs to have the bass rolled off... you can hear the mic overloading in some spots. Takamine acoustic guitar PSF-49c with Elixir strings.. or else I get major sweaking with anything else, reason being my calases are pretty hard ... Nice little guitar when theres no gook on the strings :) as to your question (4) sure.. just keep you fridge stocked with Ale and women plentiful.. hehee :)

TripleM

Thanks man! Yeah.. I really didnt pull out a stopwatch on this tune.. I just when with the flow and it felt like it should be that long... preference will win on that topic. Thats for listening.

Oh its you Again! Sluice!! You waskly Wabbit!

Im running my mics into the inputs of the Triton and using the hall verb in there... I lost alot of tone when I run into the triton for effects ... so im looking into getting a dedicated TC electrnics verb unit.
Yeah.. theres some weird noises in there... Ill have to clean everything up. thanks brother!
Shake a tail feather on proj 12... I wanna hear ya wail away on that.....
