New....need help with setting up

I just recently got an Apex435 Microphone and original Tube Mp, to start off with. I am recording everything using my cpu using Cool Edit Pro. The first time using it, it sound very rough...the quality sound like in speaking into a tube or as if I im in a big hall.....does anyone know what setting i should but my volume of my mic on my cpu...and what setting i should put on the Tube ap?

The best thing for you to do is start reading books, articles, magazines on recording. Read everything you can get your hands on.
