Illuminatius Overlordious
I just re-recorded this song today - all the tracks have been redone and remixed.

Please give it a listen and see what you think. I think it might have some bass issues

Gracias

- I re tracked the drums and added some vocals - see what you think - Feedback is very much appreciated

Hey - I'm having to listen pretty quietly right now with others watching tv nearby, but I think you're heading in the right direction. Your pitch on this one seems so much better to me than some past efforts. Great job on that man. Did you do something differently this time around?

Again, listening kinda quietly, but I'm thinking the mix itself isn't quite there. The drums themselves seem a little dead sounding while the cymbals are oddly over present and the guitars are on the fizzy side. I'll try to check back later when I can turn it up more, but wanted to check in and commend you on the vocal work. I think you're making progress with this.

The guitar recording is giving me so much grief I don't know wtf, I can't exactly put my finger on it - hopefully some EQ can fill them out. I have it set up with essentially the exact same recording chain as I did in my last recording and the guitars came out awesome on my last track. And the drums are another freaking headache - i am going to have Jimmy replace them with EzDrummer - I use a Roland TD4 kit so i only get stereo out and it makes it really hard to get a nice drum track.

i have been working on vocals - trying to get a more consistent pitch.

Thanks a lot for the feedback Heatmiser - I do Appreciate it

Well, I don't know that you should sweat the guitars so much. I'm listening again louder now and maybe fizzy wasn't the best term. They just sound less powerful in this mix than I think you'd want them for this style. I don't have any experience going for that sort of sound, so may not be the best judge.

Having a stereo-only output on the drums is a bummer, but I'm surprised that it is an electric kit as I'd expect them to be overly bright and crisp, yet the kick/snare here seems really kinda muffled to me on this...? The cymbals not so much. Did you EQ the stereo drum track pretty heavily?

Overall I think it sounds a lot better than the first couple of mixes of yours that I remember, so that is good. In addition to the improved vocals, this is tighter rythmically as well. Keep 'em coming.

I been playing with the mix tonight -

- added additional lower vocals, another guitar track to fatten it up, added NY? compression to the drums, little lead guitar, screwed with the levels some...
i think this sounds a bit fuller, might be getting overcrowded? IDK I think it sounds better.

new vocals didnt work so well - gotta retrack again tomorrorw :(

No, fizzy is what the guitars are. Sound like they went from pedal to computer. How were they recorded? They need some beef in them.
The split vocals don't really work so far apar:t bring them in so that each is just at 10 & 2 o'clock.
The bass is MIA in my headphones.
I like the song so reckon you need to do it justice.
Actually the whole mix is light on mids & bottom end.
Sounds like you need to take a day off & let your ears relax before going back in to see what needs doing.

I think your right - two straight fays of mixing - I think I have some serious ear fatigue :o

OK. My headphones are dead, so here's my impression listening on laptop speakers.

You've got a really loud lip smack right before the vox first come in.

I like the juxtaposition of poppy, upbeat music with all these dark apocalyptic lyrics! :D

Love the song. Yeah the guitars are distant fizzy mess. They sound exactly like they went from guitar, to cheap pedal, straight to computer. Fix that. Drums don't seem to bad. If you want some real ones, let me know. Shit like this is right in my wheelhouse.
