Nice freq balance; interesting floor for a little filligree on the spaced-out sections; and ripe for a little fake ambience a la Floyd to complete the pic...which would make for good filmscore recordrd as is. Nice job capturing it.

This is pretty interesting. I'm not used to hearing dynamics in an mp3. The vocals, well I admire people who can do that, but the style is not my cup of tea. The section from .45 to 1.30 is the part for me

I like it. Excellent job. The only thing I might tweak a little is the vox in the beginning, you can tell it's their but I'd bring it up just a shade.

1.48 to 2.30 you can't hear the vocals much. And then it feels like a long time before they finally kick in at the end of the song. Some people may not want to wait that long before saying F this and turning it off.

It sounds pretty good and all, but that intro is boring as hell because it's so low. With a 46 second intro like that people would more than likely turn it off and not give it a chance. Then when it does pick up there is really nothing going on to keep the interest of just continuing to listen and you find out it's actually a 1.48 long intro! JEEZUS! LOL I think it sounds great as far as recordings go, but some changes need to be made in order to keep people listening to the whole song.

So, you're stuck with this super long 1 minute 48 second intro. No way in hell most people are going to keep listening. Most of the time if the intro is over 30 seconds people lose interest and assume it's an instrumental. Convincing the band to spice it up may be harder than you think LOL

I would have the 2nd part of the intro kick in after about 10 seconds of the first intro part and cut it right into the singing part right at about 20 seconds of intro. It'll make the song a lot shorter, but at least you wont be wasting quality listening time. It'll be interesting enough to keep someone listening to the whole song and short enough to keep them wanting to hear more.

The vocals don't come in until 1:30? That's probably a bit too long; it's almost half the song!

And then I'd definitely bring them up.

The tone of everything is cool, but it feels like the song doesn't really kick in until the last 45 seconds, and then it's over. It's like you tried to compromise between a 1 minute hardcore song and a 7 minute progressive/ambient song.

I think the 2 minute intro works, just so long as there's a whole song afterwards to back it up. Tack on another two minutes of rock, (and maybe bring things down again for an ending) and you'll have a winner here.

Yes, you're right they do come in at 1.30 I didn't hear them until you pointed it out LOL

Man I'm sure if he cut it all up it would be a bad ass song. I seriously wouldn't want to sit through a 2 minute intro man. If it was cut up like how I mentioned in my previous post, I would listen to it just for fun. I like music like this. :D

I sorta disagree with some previous posts. I don't mind the intro in this style. Guitars and bass sound fantastic. The vocals are a bit low when they first come in but I do like the difference between the vocals at 1:30 and then louder at 2:30. Makes it a more intense transition. Maybe a different effect or something on the lower vocals to make the transition feel the same? I have no idea, just a random thought. Reminds me of this band "Integrity" that I dig. Sorry I couldn't be more help man but this is a bit out of my league mix wise.

Take care
Gary

Always bringing some great work to the table Steve. I admire the sounds you get. Keep it up my man!

Sounds pretty good, Steve.
I don't mind the vocals in the low part, they just need some definition IMHO. They create a nice ambience with that delay on them. Drums sound fantastic, bass and guitars even so. Not too friendly with the intro, they could play something more interesting. The way it is, it just doesn't catch the listener's attention enough and you're glad when it's over. But it's coming along just fine.

Joey :):):):)

I like the way it is now. The first bit of vocals should get brought up a bit for sure. Just gots my work speakers here, but aside from that i don't hear much. Everything else sounds pretty damn good.

also the beggining guitar track needs something, i'm not sure if it needs to be upped a little or more space or some sort of dealy effect. It is just lacking a little something to give it that ambience.

I kinda know the sound of this genere and it just needs a little something.

Or possibly give it that old AM radio sound before the good stuff kicks in at 45 Sec.

?

Listening now. It's wierd being able to see the big coming after the into guit;)

Somebody needs a throat lozenge;)

It's hard for me to judge what's style and might not be. The intro guit is pretty dark, bit muffled but, I assume that's what you're going for. The heavy parts kick ass! I like the way the bass and kick lock up on the last part of the progressions after theintro! The tom's sound great. Normaly I would say the kick needs more feel 60hz, etc, But I would not touch it in the section follow in the intro because it really lends more force to when the bass comes in. You really realize what's going on in there arrangement wise and I like that.

So for me, a tad more feel in the kick for the latter half of the song maybe. not understanding the vocals, but I rarely do on this style. The intro guitar sounds too dark to me but, it fits the rest of the song.

Very cool Steve!
