New mix critique please

Hi Guys,
just finished mixing a track for my son. I did not record the tracks personally. I did not have my studio up and running at the time. Although I was present at the session. I got the raw stems and mixed it. This is an original song of his. Your views please

 

[Papanate]

Interesting and good song - Piano is too compressed IMO - and back off the compression of the guitar a tad. Vocals could be a little more up front.,
Drums are a hair to quiet - and kind of muted.

 

[Bulls Hit]

Good performances all round, well recorded and well mixed. I would lose the 10 minutes of silence at the start. My only criticism is some of the snare hits are being masked by a clangy hihat

 

[Trichter]

Sounds good in my opinion.
As said, the long silence at the beginning is a bit confusing. Thought I had muted my speakers.
Also in the end that last note that rings out is kind of long. But I guess this is just a matter of taste.
What software/equipment did you use for mixing?
