New Microphone Purchase HELP NEEDED ASAP

Hi guys I got two problems now:

(1) My headphones don't go as far as the mic with the jack (using a behringer hpm1000) and
(2) I have set up and followed the instructions in the cubase section as per before..but now when i record it doesnt record anything?? Ive checked phantom powers on? and i cant find a tutorial for my version on it (am using 5.1) cubase but the one on your site this one forum is for 4 so anyone help??

(1) Get a headphone extension cord!
(2) I'd try the Cubase 4 tutorial anyways...they're not that different.
 
This thread is redefining the term "learning curve".....it's more like "learning spiral". :D

Its great I got everything sorted even new earpads for my behringer headphones then cubase stops working so i cant record!! (see cubase forum)
