sE have about 22 models of microphone most of which are excellent for the money. 163.

The nt2a looks pretty good, but nothing that really stands out. And with the blue, I dont think a cardiod will be able to supple my with all of my needs

You do realize that unless you have experience with a mic, and the source that is going to it, that you really do not have any clue right?

Every situation is different. You may need a cardioid mic, because your room is untreated, and sounds like crap. You may have a female vocalist, who needs the clarity of a condenser, and the room doesn't matter. You may have to use a particular mic for a certain voice that only one particular mic will be the one that works for them/or you. Any one of these variables are ones that no opinion can describe as the truth. That is for you to decide.

You will not actually know until you try. Any advice that is given here, is based on experience of the users/in their environments/with the artists they have worked with (genre as well). Any advice from others, is based on personal experience with use of any particular mic, in their environment. Not based upon the use you have in particular, not the circumstances that your recording environment, or the artist presents. One mic will not do everything/for everyone, ever..

Take the advice of others, yet plan to try more than one, to do everything. There would not be so many mics, if they all were good at everything.

I am not even going to go into what a preamp can do for a mic that you may consider crap. It all comes down to experimentation of what any source needs. Each is different. Each is unique. There is no 'right' mic for everything. And there is likely no bad or great mic for anything. Just what works for each situation.. And how you use it.. But that is again, another conversation that has only opinions, and no direct answers.

I also highly recommend this mic also. For the task you need it for.

I was serious about my recommendation of the M179 too. But there are numbers to count down here...

159 - for double mention/recommendation of previous.

:thumbs up: IDK Jim that's pretty expensive. :D

Not when you have nothing but a Sharpie, a cardboard sign, and a desire to make someone a star!! Oh, and a YouTube page. :)

I feel bad now. Sorry sign swingers. You make me happy. :)

Sign swingers were popular a wee bit ago but now I don't see them at all - anywhere!

AKG 414 - FTW!

158♫

What? Everybody stopped playing?

154♫ - just for the heck of it!
