So now that I officially have an interface, I am able to give you more info. The two mics that I am going between are the at2050, and the akg perception 420. Both multi pattern, both good sound quality. This will be used for micing an acoustic guitar, and also recording vocals. The vocals will be a wide range from bass to tenor. Is there really a difference between the two as in sound quality, customer service, and durability? Or should I just pick one out of a hat and go for it?

They will both do the job fine, it will come down to personal choice. Now stand by for 200 other suggestions for a mic. :eatpopcorn:

Alan.

Alright thanks. And haha

for those that will be recommending mics:

I need it to be in the 200-300 range. will record guitars, vocals, and possibly piano. I would really like a multi pattern mic too.

Is this a drinking recording song? *200 microphones on the wall*?

Did you drill holes in the side? I heard that was a great idea!

With a heavy enough sledge hammer you can give your 57 whatever pattern you want. 194.

Fill it with blood first, and have Dexter decipher the spatter.

You could have 4 or 5 microphones, one of every kind of microphone.

The sterling audio st59 is really catching my eye. Great sound, multi paterns, good looks, good durability. All I want in a mic
