Ey all

Finally got ourselves a new condenser mic (Rode NT1A) and already recorded a new cover.. I wanted to get some tips on the dynamics/compressor because i'm not quite sure if i should have used heavier compression..

Anyway.. thanks for any remarks / tips... hopefully we're on the right track with this one..

you can find it here : Reggie - Jar of hearts (Christina Perri Cover) - YouTube

thanks!

I think the whole vocal track should come up. I don't think it really needs anymore/less compression. It sounds pretty good. I also recommend you cut a little of the lower frequencies on the piano track. The lower frequencies are a little louder and is making the whole track sound muddy.

The low vocal notes have less power so they get lost in the mix. The higher notes seem to be cutting through okay.
My suggestion would be to use volume automation to bring the volume on the low notes up to a similar level compared the high notes. Then your compression can do the fine tuning on level...

I have the same problem with guitar frequencies....
