hey guys, i'm looking for a new condenser mic for guitars and vocals...i ahve my eye on the Sennheiser E-614 Dynamic Microphone , which, from what i gather, would be fine for acoustic instruments (i play a Martin D 15). Is this any good for vocals? Or could you reccommend a good condenser for vox and instruments, around the 250-300 mark?

the ADKs are very nice. IMHO, the AT4050 is absolutely phenomenal. YOu can get one for that price on ebay. I just did a shootout with some REAL big boutique microphones and the 4050 held up VERY well....im getting more.

hmm thats cool but i kinda wanna buy one in a shop as opposed to e bay..and my local music shop does a ton of sennheisers. maybe ill go talk to them, they seem friendly. thanks for the help though!

suit yourself. as you get up with the "upper tier" mics, youll be looking at ebay like the rest of us.Id say 50% of my collection, (mainly upper crust, cost-wise) is from ebay. Nothing wrong with buying there. course if you use cheaper mics the entire time, I guess buying at a shop is fine.

I definitely would not recommend a dynamic as your main mic for acoustic.

I adore e bay. I buy all my guitar pedals second hand. Although a boss ds 1 is far more reliable than a Condenser microphone, purely because of the nature of the product; one is mounted in a shock cradle and barely moved, the other is...well, stood on. So i'm more comfortable buying 'delicate' items from dedicated high-street retailers, it makes returning flawed purchases that much easier.
